just imagine a psy-trance party without deco,
specially if the party is in a club without any decoration, without any fluo color around, only darkness without any deco art...
bored the party wasnt party for me.
What kind of deco you prefer?dragons ,elves,mandallas,mushrooms...or what else?
or you dont even care about decoration?
personally when I look at the fluo deco art sometimes help me to get my mind in a trip easier and it is good to see laser shows and colors around that makes feel sometimes that I am in a psychedelic dream world with music and people around and thats up to deco sometimes...
share your thoughts deco dreamers...           ~~~~~~~namaskar~~~~~~~~~

deco is nice for sure.. though let's try to make some different kind of deco? so sick of dragons, elves, gnomes, alens, mushrooms, all that same old cheesy crap. how about something abstract and layered and psychedelic, for a change?

          ..it's just another party..

Well indoor, I think it's very important.. The best decos are the one that can make you forget that you're indoor, hehe..

Outdoor I think it's a bit less necessary, thanks to what Nature offers us..

.. and also human beings hehe !

About the Transit 2004 in example, some peoples complained about the fact that one can see the city (Bennicassim) in the background, behind the main-stage..

Well in my opinion it was going well with the style of Music (mostly Tech Trance) insofar as it just "sounds" somehow more urban.. mixture of nature and mankind, technology..

It was a bit of ehmm.. original panorama !

Deco is essential for indoor. Even with great music, no way do I want to be in some barren-ass room with nothing cool to look at. The visual enviroment is just as important as the auditory enviroment.
Out in nature its a different story, Nature provides plenty of deco already in the form of trees and grass and sky and theres no way humans can top that so there's really no point in trying...

Well, outdoors deco should be used to accentuate nature's beauty, indoors it should simply kick ass and create an atmosphere.

indoors deco helps to transform the space and transplant the dancers to another reality. It sets the mood and tone of the party from the moment you walk in! I would feel uncofortable dancing with blank walls everywhere, boring and creepy in my opinion!
i like original and theme deco. I do like some fluoro tapestries but in combination with other 3d types of art, and personal touches. I find just tapestries alone to be pretty boring.
A nice big beautiful altar by the dj also helps to set the intention for the party, not to mention it is beautiful to look at
outdoors, depending on the location of course, deco is less important, but lighting becomes more of an issue...

I think, every aspect of the event has to receive special attention. Deco, Sound, Talent, Video... It all represents the creativity within ourselves and help stablish a sense of awe and beauty. It complements sound as the event becomes a full sensory experience. I think outdoor deco is important too and different. I mean it should blend with the natural surroundings.. sculptures like totems, insects, birds.. and 3d art... And as Megan says lighting can really set a specific mood.

hehe, I would think a mistress of evil would find creepy blank walls to her liking j/k

For indoor, I've found that all I need is people around me and some interesting lighting to light the faces so I can trip out on everybody.
I appreciate good art, but at a party stagnant art and deco is too contrived. I want to trip on reality and people are dynamic and fun things to trip on. If I'm not outdoors in nature, people are the next best thing. (oh, and I ignore the dumb 'psychedelic' shirts).
So for me, blank walls are fine, as long as the lighting is done right and the room has some of you kooks in it.

Someone mentioned the city in the background of a techtrance party. Nice.
