Deco are the spice of the party. Like the food is way more better with salt.           -=The Meaning Of Life Is To Give Life A Meaning=

I think the importance of decoration depends a bit on set & setting for me. A forestparty out in the swedish bush, wow I'd go for just torches around the dancefloor...! With the incredible nature in combination with the beautiful torches there is no need for any more decoration for me... In general here in Sweden, I feel that promoters goes kind of... well.. they don't put superefforts really in decorations.. It is mostly some backdrops (that are overexposed) and that's it kind of...

But for festivals for sure superdecorations are nice...

Agreed! Without Deco, the venue has no real substance, no life. The Deco should be as pleasing to your eye as the music is to your ears!
We've used hand a painted backdrop behind the Dj's. It covered almost the whole wall. Even though it wasn't fully completed, it still looked awesome!
We've used Deco and black lights at our beach party... Wicked! Looked amazing!

I think the more Deco, the better!

Oh sorry, my bad... I took for granted you meant in general...

For indoors... Well either a dirty industrial style of venue would do it or else a superstyled venue of decorations. For indoors there is really no such thing for me as putting half of the possible effort in. Either you have a minimal decorated venue (with the industrial touch) or either you go full blown chaos decorations and really put effort in it. Just a few backdrops in a venue will most likely give a lame impression...

Hmm, I know it sounds a bit corny, but a mirrorball high in the trees with a couple of different coulered spots on it gives the forest quite a strange touch that is not bad to look at, at all...

When it comes to indoor, I always go with the set & setting, which means that I like a LOT of decos and things around, and also some candles to make it more varm and velcome-like.

That was the deco at a moesgaard event - I didnt like it - It destroyed my view to the stars thru the tree tops... Actually, it was a bit like an indoor location at that point I think.

Perhaps if it had been done differently, it would have been better - but light over your head at an outdoor party = you dont get to see the stars.

At another event, they put small lights in the water that drifted out to see with the tide - now THAT looked really great, it was as if there were stars in the water - You could see the stars twinkling in the sky, and the lights twinkling in the water

About indoor parties, I agree that candles can be quite nice - but, if there are a lot of people at the party, you need to put them out since it gets real hot real fast.

Best Wishes

We have plastic versions of you here as well - They even make you in small chocolate versions for hungry children to devour when they feel like it ;-)
