I couldn't resist on replying to this topic here we go again and again...
Goa has nothing to do with religion of trance, is just a place where some great psy-trance parties took place. And I'm surprised to this apotheosis of this place since few of us have been there!!!!
As Tim said Goa-trance was a developement and personaly I agree. Goa was just another style of trance music!!! As :: :: :: said ppl start to do your homework!!!!Please don't confuse styles of trance music with religion or even worst with drugs!!!!You loose all the essense and that is you LOOSE MUSIC!!!!What Tim said about P.V.Dyk and Sven Vath I couldn't agree more!!!!I don't seperate anymore the psy or the prog...(ispite of there is a style I love..)It's trance music...developing and changing like we do...afterall life and people flow over..and with us the music follows....
Cheers!!!!

Has anybody come in Trance with dance ppl?
You know what we talk about?
I dont think so. For the most of you trance is just music and nothing else.
For some of us is something more.
Is way of life and culture also but you dont care or you dont understud this.
You leasent Trance but you dont know why.
You are blind and you dont care to see.
I feel very disapointed.

Will the information highway have a “rest area”? Will the imaginational world of information technology, with all its built-in illusions(drugs), ever give us an experience of the real and genuine? The answer is “yes.” But it will not be found in the digital, holographic world of drugs but in the world of the Spirit—connection with God, the only real entity in an illusory world who can give genuine peace and satisfaction to the restless and thirsty soul (Rosado 1996).

Some of the ppl that you are courious to find out if they came in "trance" with dance, are within this scene for more or less 15 years now.Of course we came in trance my friend.Of course it is a culture,a way of life.
If you ask me i am dealing with this scene more than 10 hours per day every day the whole year.It is not a way of life.It is LIFE it self.

We all pased through goa style, prog style, psychedelic, dark, minimal and we still going and going...I suggest you do the same
If you stuck on the "spiritual" part, you are the one who will lose the development.
Expand my friend.Trance has SOOOO much to offer you rather than just spiritual stuff...

Tim.
maybe you have been in trance but the most of ppl here never been. I resspect and undestund your opinion also but I want you make the same.
I see all this from a differend view and I feel very fine with this. My mind is open as you ask me and this is the reason. The different point of view I have!

griniaris
I dont say been in trance with drugs my friend.
I say been in Trance with Dance.
The drugs is one other story and everybody make his choice.

I love you both and my spirit with you

hehe lright acidonacid buddy?
...just a bit of advice for your own good and for the sake of the point u trying to make...dont make judgements like the ones above as they contradict your own views that u seem to be firmly keen on. furthermore it resembles a very common phenomena (or rather a superiority problem) associated with each religion...that is the prejudiced & arrogant aproach to persuade/convince ppl in favour of a defined belief/religion/enlightement (or whatever), rather than providing proper & convincing arguments as well as actions. it is dissapointing that u already have separated ppl in terms of 'ppl like us' & 'ppl like u', which not necesarily intentional, yet does sound (and IS) patronising to a group of ppl that u've categorised using criteria relevant & known to yourself only.
dont forget that u, as well as every single one of us, is biased by their own perception, which is by all means not purely individual but has been rather largely affected and adjusted to the circumstances & societies we live in. I believe u r aware of that tho...but strangely enough have chosen to ignore it. 'we' may be one-eyed (half blind) regarding some aspects u consider important, but judging ppl in the way u did makes U b fully blind. and that is where the contradiction of your post is... furthermre enhanced when one reads your signiture.

In your post u state that 'for most of the ppl trance is just music and nothing else'.
but is there anything wrong with that tho? it is indeed just music artists create for themselves and for ppl to enjoy. which takes me to another point u made : 'u listen to trance but u dont know why' -->Im not gonna argue much bout this one as there is not much to argue. could do with just saying that we ('psyppl') listen to trance (or any other music) for reasons WE consider relevant, but mainly coz we like it and enjoy listening/dancing to it...simple as that. I understand tho that your reason may seem the most relevant and 'accurate'....but then so do everybody's! no need to go into extreme fanatism

U've chosen trance to be your 'way of life' as u define it (have u thought thoroughly bout what that means tho?)... that is your choise my friend, and Im afraid u didnt convince me it is the superior and 'right' choise, nor I want to be convinced....
personally, i would not allow trance to be 'my way of life' as there are so many other things out there I enjoy very much, and am affected by.Im sure the same goes for everyone. it is however an important part of my life at the moment as it does affect it significantly. no matter how hard I try to make it a 'way of life' i would never manage as there are no certain predefined guidelines for the socalled 'psytrance way of life'.the ones that do exist are imo cliched egotrips. my (and i believe) your way of life is dynamic and constantly changing. each day we experience and become more compex persona and thus making just 1 aspect of our life b our 'way of life' is from my experience limiting, altho at the time it may have seemed as the most 'enlightening' (aargh I hate that word) and right thing to do. but that is not the issue here.....

regarding religion vs trance & drugs I think it is a matter of choise and personal character....and Im fine as long as it is like that. personally Im not religious at all, and nobody so far has provided me with any acceptable religius arguments that could change that nor I have myself found any good in religion. that doesnt mean that Im alienated from spirituality tho. I guess i do experience and feel the 'spirituality' at trance parties/gatherings/experiences as well as many other aspects in my life, but dont relate it to religion. it is my own right and choise not to, as it is religious' ppl right to explain what they spiritually experience by the means of religion.
HOWEVER, i get extremely agitated when one judges me while taking religion as a factor and main criteria of the judgement. what frustrates me even furthermore, are the religious tendencies in the music and its scene i love.
although i do respect hinduism, I strongly dissagree that it is an essential part of this scene. it may have honce had a strong impact, but nowdays it has turned into a thoughtless silly cliche and coolness factor. many ppl in the trance scene happen to become experts in defining/explaining spirituality through hinduism (or other eastern religions) within a year after they've strated listening to trance. thats a bit odd now isnt it? furthermore its insulting for those who spend their entire lifes to undersatnd it.

in sumary, i dont think religion and trance music experiences are related by any means possible. a listener may choose to relate them tho on a personal level.
it is however an ilness if one just accepts religious explanations for everyday expereiences (including trance mus) just for the sake of it...or just bcoz its cool to leave a certain appeal with a purpose to gain a higher status within a certain comunity. that happens in trance music unfortunately....there are loads of retards who now nothing bout hinduism for example, but yet try to be cool by having that appeal and/or talking bout devine cosmic spirits traveling at supersonic speeds through our minds...or whatever. these are all just meningless hyp word games imho.

I could be biased though, as i've been doing science for quite a few years and thus cannot just accept everything if not provided with apropriate arguments, not necesarily scientific ofcourse.

take care all
