^ lol  .. also one thing nobody mentioned is that most of that lot have no beer expenses (and thats a lot of money saved) , and that they don`t really mind living in squalor , me .. i needs resort with nice pool and full ac room and breakfast , lunch and dinner in a nice place , also , some of em may just be `plastic` hippies , yknow , rich kids , designer dreads , the works ..

the flea Market in Dondo Anjuna started was started off by freaks years ago..
it was ment to be a place to barter or sell,
freaks who were broke would sell or barter their latest electronic stuff, items that were not available in India at that time, for either cash or provisions, this woudl then carry them on for a month or so..
Dole money....
doing odd jobs.... I knew of this guy called Sam.. very tall German, skin head... used to stay in Anjuna... work in the Arpora, baga belt at shacks doing odd jobs like washing dishes, cutting vegs, The shack owners would either pay him by small change of give him food to eat, so once food is taken care of .. its only the Dz that he woudl need to sort..
also the whites dont eat as much as we Indians do... not the freaks atleast...

Er. I can think of and am aware of much darker ways to survive the life in Goa as a long timer..especialy the Chapora freaks who've been there for ages..but what's the point naa..most are too fried to know what all they've done and still doing to live the life of 'freedom' and getting wasted. 70's was a different time man I guess, so much was happening, there were such interesting people who were discovering newer music new theories of social existence..now it's such a bad idea to live that kind of vision in Goa. |

it should be noted a decent lunch (one plate) or de menu du jour is about 15 euros anywhere in europe in a small run down place .. hell a sandwich is 5 euros ... so for 15 euros a day thats roughly 800 rs. anybody can easily survive .. Say you have stashed away 100000 euro in the bank after selling all your possesions in europe thats like 60 lakhs mate ... put it in the bank get 1% interest how much you got 5000 per month money no sweat .... full on full power no shower forever.... |

well as you all have already stated... the obvious is 6 months back in country of origin and 6 months back...
but there are alot who actually do not travel this way... keep in mind alot even do jobs like act as extras on our indian idot box, while others just buy land on the pretex it's a business investment and this way they have longer visa's until our govt comes knocking down der doors...
sum are gifted, make chillums, paint, stitch, teach, cook, sum fancy way of sky diving or scuba diving, etc...
but most of them just either have worked their whole lives to retire in goa or have big accounts back home...
the most imp point to remember is that currencies are different... while dey were poppers back in there countries, they all are very rich in ours...
as long as they dont pollute and harm the peace of our hippie capital... boom always to them...
