yet another pointless question:

why is it that trance tunes tend to be so long.. why is it that we don't get too many less than 4 min tunes..

just think it for a sec... if a track was only 4 mins, wouldn't you be left unsatisfied, wanting for more..? i think one cannot build an atmosphere, create a whole structure with beginning and an ending in less than 4 mins..!!

i beleive length helps as XrTC said to build the TRANCE, which is what this music is about.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

trance trax used to be longer something like 9-10 min.... now most of the trax (at least full on) are 6-7 min trax...

so if quantity (in term of track lenght) equals quality (in term of trance athmosphere) why is it that the tracks are only 6 to 12 minutes instead of 70 minutes?           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

Well, I feel that my own tracks are ok with 6-7 mins.
Sometimes it's around 5, so I add another loop or something to make it seem longer

Also with the intro and the outro - that takes another minute off usually. And for DJs to mix them - about another minute or two of beat loops on each end, and at the party you end up hearing the middle 3 or 4 minutes, which is usually the part with the most complexity and energy.

Finnish music like Texas Faggot and Squaremeat often has 4-5 minute tracks. They drive me crazy when mixing. Shortest dance track should be 7 minutes, imo, if the artists want good beatmatched mixes. which I don't think they all do.

wouldn't it be kinda lame if the artists would intentionally be making their music so that it can be properly beatmatched?           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

also longer track generally means artist has a longer story to tell this means he is trying to express himself in better detail which is not a bad thing.

i never ever thought that any artists would intentionally be making their music so that they could perform it easier..           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

It's common practice in other dance scenes, especially house and techno.

Thank god that's not vulgarized in psytrance (although it can be spotted ocasionally - and it seems to me that practice is becoming more common).

on the contrary, some artists make their music so the bpm changes and are very hard to mix

Hallucinogen - Trancepotter is a perfect example.           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."
