The topic name speaks for itself. I did make a search nothing came up really.
I basically wanted to know why dancefloor's in the mid-west dont display much energy. I just arrived at Indiana about 2 months back and have a couple of friends with whom i was discussing this topic. Back in India the very essence of good vibes at a party was based on smily faces and mad mad energy on the dancefloor. Im not saying the midwest lacks smiles- im sure there are lots of fantastic happy people but i was just wondering what happened to the energy part of it? From what ive heard people go ballistic during the night and at sunrise and beyond energy levels drop- i dont see why?! I personally feel there should be more energy while full on is being played. I infact heard Random was pretty disappointed by the dancefloor response. As a DJ myself i can say that most motivation comes from people totally dancing like no one is watching them, not to forget smiles, screams and whistles. It makes a DJ want to push the next track harder, twist the knobs harder... just a great feeling! Just thought this topic would be of general interest. I welcome all sorts of open responses to the topic, also correct me if my views are wrong please. Just wanted to know as i will be starting to play soon if all goes well
Take care guys
Much love

survive a 3 day without dancing first m'boy. the walking will do you in by itself.

i blame the lack of energy in the morning on the abundance of all the greenery we find when dawn breaks damon knows what i mean

I am not sure where "hostile" fits into any description...

If this is based on the last party in Northern Wisconsin, the cold had a lot to do with people not dancing. Two nights of 40 degree weather doesn't help people's stamina. There were a lot of people trying to stay by fires or in their sleeping bags. Unfortunate for Random and Paradigm of course..

Other reasons: A large number of attendees are recent converts to psy and aren't used to going past sunrise, not to mention a decent percentage of the scene being more into chill than psy. We also have yet to see the emergence of a real "morning trance" scene to replenish dance floor energy. I see that a lot of other US fests that have a crowd of people that come and dance in the morning after resting through the night..

However, an example during warm weather: At the Squaremeat event this summer a very good percentage of the people were dancing until noon..

Come out to the next party and give us some of that morning energy Also, Yidam wants a ride!

Looks like a great line-up ....

as far as the dancefloor burnout.... I know exactly what that's like ( here in Mississippi ! ).. It just takes time to get everyone in sync and it may take a few parties or the right temp to make that happen..

The only thing we can do is remain constant...
and yeah, sometimes the green is too good hahahahaa !

You have to acknowledge the fact that Midwest psytrance scene basically did not exist almost at all untill last year (I'm not counting single "attempts"). Like Scott said there are a lot of people who are new to this movement/culture and don't actually hmmm "fell" it ... or something like that. Plus, imho, the whole american scene is different comparing to Europe/Asia etc. I've heard east and west coasts are much better (did not have a chance to attend psytrance party there so far) probably because there are many more people who travelled outside US and experienced "IT" Plus there are more "implants" who brought "IT" with them. I moved from Europe 6 years ago and was dissapointed by local electronic scene. Then, after a while, started appreciating what we have here. I shouldn't be pesymistic but I doubt it will become much better. So ... enjoy what you have here mate

Plus some people (including myself ) do not consider dancing as a priority anymore (I know I'm old hehe).

And (I know most people rather would like to deny it) psychedelic "factor", I mean it's absence can be blamed for it as well.

yeah you midwesters just need some "energy" juice.

actually i'm not kidding and any one who's been to parties where it's not "going around" knows that the energy dies after sunrise.

Probably not enough acid to keep these people fueled.

I've observed the same thing too...although in Wisconsin a rabid group of Iowans didn't want to stop dancing, albiet maybe just 5 of them. Plus, with camping, people don't have the dance-floor focus, they chill at their sites instead. When you're talking about 200 or less attending, then your floor may max out at about 50 people, 10 of those are spinning their glow-in-the-dark toys around.

I have had the opportunity to spin once in the mid-west about a year ago or so... It was an amazing experience and the dancefloor was quite full... however i did notice though that towards the morning a lot of that crowd got weeded out and there were much less people on the floor.           https://www.djjeto.com

Exactly. 3 indoor parties thrown by Chilluminati last/this year attracted about 200-250 people. About 50% stayed till the end I guess ... so ... until outdoor party won't attract 400 people or more I see dancefloor as it is now.

yeah, pre 2000, , well maybe not that far, back thats when the 2am thing kinda came into being, so it took a few years for the new generation come on, and adapt to that as the norm.....

we need to break em all of that

I still say, there should be a outdoor (next year of course) where music doesnt start untill 2am, and its chillout / breaks untill 4.... when the trance comes on, and take them into the morning with it.....

Some people are still sleeping and dont realize the kind of energy they can create on the dancefloor.

That's exactly it. They dont know how to open up fully and feel unabashed when it comes to their movements on the floor. Personally, I don't care how silly I look when I'm flailing my arms and body parts around.

I think thats a great idea Lawrence~

(oh i have your XLRs they are in safe hands)
