Hey guys om nama shiva.. i would love to help with starting a psy scene in boston.. im from india moved to boston 18 months ago.. the only psy parties i go to now are in new york..ive been for the killer raves in goa, india for the past 4 years, now i moved here and its all gone, im looking for some here now.. so let me know if youll need any help

I like sonic beating parties. Their music is funkin great, and I personally prefer when people do their own thing on the dancefloor. It's a diverse crowd
They close at 2 because everything is boston closes at 2. And frankly, Sonic Beating have been throwing parties at the VFW for YEARS, they have a great thing going and it would be dumb of them to do anything else.
@Acidity: Ritesh, are you moving to Boston???!!!? PM me, I can introduce you to some people.

......and you clearly know someone in Sonic Beating. I guess if you dig fluffy prog-trance that doesn't really give you the trancendance experiance then sonic-beating is great. Don't really need a drink, thats probably why I don't go to SB parties, with it being at a bar and all. People acting like ravers and being self-centered. I guess the biggest problem would be that they're unwilling to step outside their merry little prog scene and diversify. I may talk up the darker styles but I do agree there is quality elsewhere even though I havn't heard as much. |

Sonic Beating do their own thing. But for those (like me) who crave a scene with people who are true to the vibe, and know what a TRUE psyparty is all about, it just doesn't get even close...

Actually I'm about 6'3 thanx though. Who thinks they can pity me because they don't agree with my posts, do I know you? I'm trying to contribute in a positive way and you want to help me out? I'm not sure what insulting me is gonna do, but mayby you possess some esoteric wisdom that you can share.
I'm not a miserable person but as riton sez, I crave a scene thats true to the vibe and people who understand an authentic trancendance experiance, and cause of attitudes like yours its an ephemeral experiance at best these days. Mayby you should meet someone before you make assumptions. |

^ bro im glad you and me are on the same page. We both KNOW psyparties (that's me in the avatar btw).
On the other hand, I have got to admit that in the US, there is this somewhat accepted idea that the true psyheads are into dark psy.
Somehow the other stuff is considered "fake", whether it be the "housey" psyprog, or the "cheesy" fullon.
As we say in French, "I have my ass between two chairs", craving a psy scene of nature parties, but also preferring the morning melodic sound to the dark one. Not a great position to be...

I listened to a really great comp today called Digital Music Therapy on Wildthings records. I think its a British label, not sure, but its the first solid non-dark comp Ive heard in a while. Granted I've been searching for non-dark but havn't found much I like. For me I prefer darker cause its been the most psychedelic and intense audio experiance for me, not cause I want to be scary or cool. When It comes to the classics Hallucinogen, Infected, Gms I love the melodic dimensions but it seems people dont try to do that well anymore. I like some of the prog but it doesn't get me as high as intense twisted acid and ends up sounding to clubby. I heard some good stuff on Phantasm lately and I played some vinyl from that label back in the day. Today it seems as though a lot of the artists who focus on the high end sounds (melodies)only do it superficially and I would like to see some of the dark artists get more experimental in that department. |

This thread was created to get people in Boston together and not for bitching. Being never in Boston, I have never been to Sonic Beating parties and probably will never be at one because of the ridiculous flight prices between Boston and CR. But I dont care.....if they are able to throw parties with proggy sounds and people come to that, whats wrong with that? Let us not be any elitist. I know that psy is better music then others but why dont we just shut the fuck up and do our job.
Seriously, any more bitching about Sonic Beating or anything like DARK PSY is good - prog psy is bad, I am gonna close this thread by asking the mods. I simply dont care about other parties. What I care is our party being good........
Let us put all the negative vibes in the backburner and help each other in getting one party done. Many people have come forward to help us and I really appreciate their effort.
At this point of time, we are looking at 2 venues and would probably finalise it by next weekend so hold on to your socks. We will have some good news soon!!!!
PS: My personal apologies to any Sonic Beating people if you are reading this thread. It was never meant for the thread to become a BOSTON PSY BASHING thread......
Edit: Actually fuck that...
@Mods: If you get some time to read the whole thread can you delete all the posts (including by me) that does not relate to help or having a party in Boston in this thread.
