do i need to always play only new stuff or will old stuff also do (by old i mean stuff from 2001 or maybe the 90ies)

You can play anything you want from any age. I would only advice you to avoid the overplayed stuff, especially if it's old stuff. Of course you can add some element or very short clips from old everybody-knows-them classics to make your audience a little bit more alert, but playing the same old song from start to finish just won't do. Better to use your intuition as it's the best tool for any dj           http://musicandhappylife.blogspot.com/

you can play pretty much what-ever you want as long as it's chilled.i like to take people on a journey, weaving up and down,in and out and as justin chaos says "following my emotional needs" but always being aware of how crowd and how they're feeling/reacting to it.
at the beginning you'll always be a bit nervous about what people think of what you're playing but once you get going you'll have so much fun.
ambient music for indian sunsets.... now doesn't 't that sound fantastic

As a chill out dj and producer I"ll let you in on a little secret... the great tjing is this scene does not follow trends like Trance. You do not need the leatest unreleased to be a top dj, you do not need to be part of a label to egt good gigs... chill out has no boundries and no rules. There is no right way of doing and you have all the time to do whatever you want with it. I see many more 15 mnute+ tracks in chil out than trance, and I see much more personality and passion in the music itself. Heck, I got the thumbs up during a NYE gig 2 years ago for playing a U2 track in my chill set, everyone enjoyed it... chill out is about having no limits and boundaries, it is the most personal music I know... I'm uploading my mix to djserver.net today or tomorrow (it's a really big file as I made it 224kbps so I"m waiting to hear if this is ok) and I have put in an old Infinity Poject track from like 1995... with chill out you just need to sit back and take the people away on a great trip. There are no rules and endless methods of mixing it up just have fun

It feels like the same in Finland... young people demand hard banging trance and there's normally no proper space for chillout in the parties... but I'm sure it's gonna change, because nobody wants to be raving his whole life

Prem Joshua's Toires remix is available on remix-cd "Toires: Majmar" (very cheap in saikosounds, 7,34 euros at the moment) Excellent track, best on the album imo

Thanx for your feedback and support!!           http://musicandhappylife.blogspot.com/
