Most live musician I know use earplugs, and some lost already part of their hearing spectrum. But this of course is at parties were its extremly loud and you are close to the speaker for a long time.

I just wanna say that since I posted this topic I started moderating my volumes seriously. Now I hear at my lower volumes with breaks between albums.

When you have a simple flu it can be very dangerous to hear loud music, because your ears are very sensitive at this time and you can get some irreversible damage!           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

folkz, listening to something at high dB is dangerous, no matter what it is.
Please do me a favour and stop dancing 30cm away from the Turbo Sound speakers set?! I see that in every party I go!

One little fact to rely on:
The more u hear loud music, the more u can't hear not so loud music, so after a year of ear abuse, what you thought was loud - became quiet.

I cannot risk my ears - I have music to compose! -I will never risk it - I know I can have all the fun hearing it the way I should. At a party I tend to dance in the center because I want my ears to hear the music equally and in a normal volume. A party once in two or three weeks dancing like this - won't hurt you too much.

I just hope everybody understands - that everything should be taken in propotion here. Too much was never good for you. Same goes with drugs and alcohol and god knows what else...

i always heard about hearing damage, but once after 6-7 hours near the speaker it was really hard 4 me to listen!! people where speaking 2 me and i was hearing only backgound noise like in the vinyl records. 4 a couple of day i could really feel what's it like not having the ability 2 use fully your sences... not a pleasent feeling.

hi guys.. please note that if you do damage your ears what can happened is that you start haring noises "tintunim" and when it get worst and worst
it might get to a state that you cant sleep without let say a radio in the backround, it might lead to madness cos you cant find a peace of mind..
keep your ears keep your body. it is gods temple.
stay away from the speakers the sound is good enough at the center of the party.. also take a walk away from the party every now and then it's also helps.
so we can all keep enjoingf the sound of trance in nature ((:

Yes, I had an ear trauma in the army ( forgot my earplugs) You cannot imagine the noises I had in my ears, spend 2 weeks in a hospital. Yes this really could lead to madness. Fortunately the problem went away, but I wouldn't wish this to anybody !

Take this topic seriously!!
Ringing in the ears (tinnitus) is irreperable. Once your ears are fucked, they are fucked for life, and the damage is cumulative, so every time you blast your headphones, you are eroding one of your senses for navigating this world.
dancing in front of a turbosound stack is beyond stupid. as is listening to headphones at high volumes. ask sbk (tarsis) how funny hearing damage is. he almost sold all his equipment and gave up being a musician and dj because of his ears being blasted at a club. not being able to sleep, not being able to hear people call your name, this is seriously unfunny.
Wear earplugs, or at least tissue paper in your ear to block the high frequencies.
Part of the problem lies in PA men and speakers themselves. Many PA men put way too much emphasis on the highs (because of their rock background), and there is often too many mid-high speakers out there and not enough low. Bass will not shread your ears, but those screaching highs will. Also speakers themselves are to blame for the amount of distortion they create to generate high volume. The sound system at Samothraki was painful for me to listen to anywhere except right in front of the stage, out of line of those mid-high speakers. I recently did a party with Funktion-One Resolution speakers (by the guy who designed Turbosounds) and it was like hearing pure sound for the first time. You could dance right in front of the speakers and not feel the slightest discomfort or pain, and your ears wouldn't ring the next day. Why? NO distortion in the highs, just pure warm sound.

I'm quite sure that in the next 5 to 10 years they will learn how to cure pretty much everything.
Maybe they grow you a new ear or something, but I bet that no1 will have any problems with this kinf of things In 2010.           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."
