No, I was already into spirituality for quite some time. Spirituality is a thing that attracted me to psytrance but know I'm disillusioned. I know that this scene uses spiritual matter only to spice up your trip. No massive illuminations or whatsoever.

i never found OM cool when i growing up in India...i thought it was uncool to wear hindu symbols, and those red threads around my hand, i also hated going to temples ...then one fine day i saw a few aliens, lets call them foreigners, by that i mean cauasians , not the dark skinned or what are called people of color, at temple and that gave a booster shot or an adrenaline rush why because i saw this blue eye blonde haired maiden at a Hare Rama temple in mumbai..i was 16 then...in 1997 i made my first "crazy" goa trip and my older friend had informed me that i should visit anjuna...long behold i venture out and guess what i see the same damsel, dressed in a Krishna t-shirt...and since then spirituality became cool for me and now i am tattoed with hindu gods and goddesses on my arms..so what i am saying is that when someone other than those in your immidiet surronding tell you the grass green, you dont buy it but when an italian sells you a chillum you throw out your wallet..does that answer your question?           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

i can see why u feel so. i used to be an existentialist earlier, thinking there's no essence preceding existence, that we make up the essence later. but soon after i started listening to psytrance, i got into the world of entheogenic substances and bit by bit, my opinions started to change and i started studying the properties of these plants.. and through each self-revealing experiences i had with their magic, i started to see how wrong i was about the universe and all of existence being just random.. its hard to describe these experiences and wat exactly about them was responsible for changing my reality-tunnel... and i may not know the essence of life, its purpose, or its creator(s), but i do know that i was terrible wrong in letting my ego think it knew better. so yes, without psytrance, i might have not been aware of hidden realms/states of consciousness where the unimaginable dwells... or who knows, maybe i would've come across them some other way... may be the universe course-corrects itself so no matter wat path u take, u always end up at the same place ultimately.

yes the trip was the door to perception,
not much spiritual for me, just being able to look at things through different perspectives and with deeper thinking.
how you approach these perspectives and how you react with them is what defines you as an individual unique personality.
you define that uniqueness.

PS
9 out of 10 times i usually trip with no music at all

^^ id better say the trip(psychedelic) was -another- door to perception, since perception started the day we were born, its not the cause, its just a key to another door

For me Psytrance becomes spiritual in the moment when the outcome of the sound is dance, when soundwaves create this motion of dancers moving around in patterns, like planets circling the sun, moons circling the planets etc.

What I guess I mean to say is psytrance reveals its full spiritual potential in a festival context. A psychedlic dance floor is a wierd, wondeful place where strange experiences, amazing encounters and mystic revelations can be encountered. At times very benevolent, at times energetic battlefields...

Experience with psytrance at festivals has definetly boosted my interest in spirituality, because at the right time, in the right context the music can unlock or pry open some amazing doors.

with goa(psy)trance i was able to reconnect with deeply intense emotions my memory trailed to my past (can't really explain - but i'm sure you understand). this helped me 'comprehend' these feelings better.
subsequently, in pursuit of spirituality these very same emotions were stirred again, enhancing spiritual meanings and giving me a better and more clear understanding.

blame it on the psytrance ... totally!!

it has not increased my interest for spirituality, actualy it made me feel weird about it, specifically the standard usage of hindu god pictures and sometimes buddhas (standard?). My interest for spirituality came from elsewhere. But it`s very limited on Vipassana meditation and philsophy.

With so many sexual and drug abuses and with so many unstable persons on the scene I doubt in it's spirituality. People mostly aren't able even to hold stable relationships with each other. But I don't think that this scene is different in those aspects from other musical scenes. People are just people.

Still, I'm interested in spirituality so I like all those references to this topic.
