So yeah, checked out a local synth shop with some buddies last night. Wow. Wow.

They had a TON of synths set up with headphones to check out and it was quite the ear-opening experience.

Minibrute? Completely terrible. Cheap plastic toy bullshit with an awful sounding filter. It was on my short list and I'm soooooooooooo glad I didn't get one. God damn was that disappointing.

Tried out a CS-5, the Minitaur, Tempest..but I spent most of my time on their big modular. It was so oddly satisfying not knowing SHIT about how to make a noise until the shop guy gave me a little demo and then I was happily patching shit in left and right.

Man, those analog filters (on quality modules/synths of course) really do sound drastically different from anything in software.

Though I think I have doomed myself. Fairly certain that I'll be preordering an MS-20 and taking their soldering course so that I can start building my own modules for a eurorack case full of weird shit to connect to the MS-20.

Also played around with a buddy's Anushri DIY synth and wow what an acid monster!

So yeah if you've never had the chance to hear what analog is all about find a synth shop near you and go play! I can't believe I waited this long....            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

i think it wouldnt intergrate too well with what i have bud isnt really a panning mixer that can handle cvs, really handy for vector synthesis and rgenerative patches whearas my setup all my cv control apart from the maths is internal to maschine and silent way so really i could get the same from a kaos pad or similar,,,if you get waht i mean
all my cv stuff is digital based where my audio signal path is analog

but then again. ask me in six months when im buying my 9u case........at this rate im gonna have to go back to Whoring to pay for this gear lust

still waiting for the es1. but playing with a "Version " of the plugs if you know what i mean
its all capable of audio rate, polyphonic handling , mixing cv for envs ,vel to cv and a whole heap of other plugs, self calibrationg oscillators as well

so yeah in theory.....it should rock like fuck

for the case i think i will go with diy doepfer kit, schneider rack ears + the console rack i posted just before, around 220 euros for 6u, would n t be much more for 9u, it s cheapest/easier solution i have find for now

for 9u you could do into this
http://www.thomann.de/fr/thon_studiorack_10he.htm

would cost you probably the same if not more buy building it by yourself with wood

Oh, can you guys help me out? I know (or, I think I know) that there are these magical boxes that are digital but have CV outs, and they digitally generate ADSRs/LFOs that get converted to CV - so that you can buy the cool modules/oscillators/filters and keep them analog but get all these crazy advanced modulations from the digital box.

Is that a MIDI to CV converter? I did a quick google but couldn't find what I want.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
