about 4-5 hours of not dark but intense heavy music increasing in speed and chaos till it eventually reached an apex where for about an hour it was almost ambient (intense ambient) . You went from frying like an ice cube in a fast food fryer (dont try this at home) to peacfully swaying. something snapped something like a plane breaking the sound barrier. at upwards of 200+bpm somwhere it becomes half the bpms that it was so if the track is 220 bpm you are experiencing it as if it were 110 bpm. now this would not be possible if it werent properly built up. if you just toss on a 220 bpm track outta nowhere itll sound like noise. but to be there to break the bpm speed barrier was a truly beautiful thing.

Sounds very interesting (unfortunately I've never heard him).           http://www.chillumafia.com

I have been meaning to see him for years. Being to young to have experienced the heyday of Goa I appreciate the fact that he is still pursuing trance as a means of pushing musical(as well as pushing arguably other) boundaries. It seems a lot of Goan Giants moved onto electro or other types of music, which is fine because there are always new avenues to explore. But you gotta hand it to a guy that plays for 24hours with a discernible concept and deep lineage in trance.

The music he seems to endorse these days is very intense and definitely would baffle many people not familiar with the changes that have taken place in psychedelic trance since the 90's

Goa Gil was the first person I ever heard that played Skazi at a party.

Of course that was 7 or 8 years ago...

haha funny side note one of the insanely fast songs he played in the previously mentioned text was an enichkin remix of skazi&big fishi - hit and run (666bpm enichkin projects)

right before i broke the speed bariier this is what i heard hehe it was a funny side by side somparison to what i used to think was psychedelic

He was a poster child then and still is today just another guy who plays other peoples music

goa gil makes music with his wife under the artist name The Nommos. Theyve put out some amazing music, the 2004 album Digitaria is still one of my favorites.

The thing i like about Goa Gil the most...

is the fact that he does his gigs for us!

There's no ego involved whatsoever...

he simply says...

"This is for you. Enjoy."

Enjoy it. If you dont like it. Do something else.

too funny... not really worth a response, but what the hell...
yea goa gil is american, he's one of us!
if he is one of the "fathers of goa trance", then that makes the U.S. one of the birthplaces of goa trance!
i've always enjoyed his music.
nowadays, he is a reliable compass for the dark style.
always on the cutting edge...i would hope so, he has the freshest music served to him on a silver platter

This man deserves nothing but respect for what he is & what he has done/continues to do for this genre of music - psytrance.

As for his sets, the mixing may not be close to top notch but i can assure you, the story & journey this man creates is like no other. Amazing transition of energy & intensity....You can even hear this perfection in the CD's he has compiled - Worldbridger most recently for example. Brilliant musical story for deep, intense trips...

I am personally not a big fan of high bpm music (154 is as far as i usually dig, 160 is acceptable sometimes too) & i know Gil plays high bpm music during stages of his set but there is only a reason he does so. Sometimes the dancer needs something out of the ordinary to come out of his/her shell, and raising BPM's is one of the possible ways to aid that, and that is probably Gil's approach.
