aes dana...woo =D one of my favorite "chill" acts!
its so nice to see the chillout being represented with lots of love, gaian mind has a great chill stage(the best ive seen at a fest. here) - which is sadly forgotten about at most festivals- or uninviting. Oh the chill area is like a playground with its huge nets...i can't wait.

Skunna be wicked. Kick up some dust and shake the circle. Clothing optional (read: pagan land)

Sadly, I won't be in attendance this year.
This will be the first one I've missed
since 2003.
I wish you all the best! Great lineup!

Oh man Luke... there's gonna be one gaping hole this year. You will definitely be missed. We'll just have to use the stones as a satellite dish to send you some signals... hopefully you'll pick up on them. |

one thing GM Fest never does is book artists who fall neatly in to specific subgenres...they book true musicians who don't rely on formulas and don't really sound like anyone else...that's why you won't find a polarized dance floor like @ other festivals...you'll see the same faces on the dancefloor @ night for digitalist as you will in the morning for rastaliens - equally as enthusiastic. it's hard to be a music snob about any lineup GM Festival has ever offered. the bottom line is, it's a mistake to base your decision for GMSF on the lineup! it's really so much more... |

Mistake or not, music largely shapes the experience for me. Certain artists are recognized for a reason, they create special experiences with their music. Sadly, with GMSF, the rising cost of admission doesn't reflect the number of recognized talent across the board.
As for this year's main floor lineup, these acts hardly qualify as new, unique sound or as genre re-defining. To be fair they're good, but only offer variations of old themes in the genre.
Chill lineup is really good, though. Maybe that's where the money is going... |

When considering rising prices, you also have to consider rising costs because of the crappy state of affairs right now. If you compare prices to previous years, you also have to compare the state of the economy, especially the cost of gas, which affects the cost of flights, and how the dollar compares to other currencies ($1 = 0.6271 euros, 0.5077 pounds right now). It's really expensive right now to bring in international artists. Just my $0.02 |

The cost of travel hasn't increased proportionately to the exchange rates. If compensating the Europeans is too expensive, bring the Russians. U.S. talent still charges in US$, (e.g. Penta, oCeLoT, Mubali) they are all great, unique-sounding and innovative artists.
More likely influence is the sad reality of the limited U.S. psy scene. You can't get better headliners with the low number of attendees (assuming the entry price is as high as the market will tolerate). And you can't increase the number of attendees without bringing better headliners... |
