afaik it is, i don't expect to be able to push the levels this year all that much past where they have been in the past. If people are looking for the sort of db levels that can cause your ears to bleed, then this might not be the fest to choose...
that said, i have faith that sonic fidelity can be experienced and appreciated without pushing a system all the way to its limits. As always, a balance can and will be struck between our need to bathe in bass and the desire of the neighbors to live lives safe from unwanted musical intrusions, however misguided those desire may be. =D

i wonder, did nick et al ever do any quantitative comparison of remotely measured system output using his system in "4 point" configuration vs. a standard configuration? you guys planning a similar configuration? curious

Nick ran a 6 point system last year. No idea if any sort of comparison was done between frontloaded or surround, but as i understand it, last year the system was put together in such a way as to attempt to maximize cancellation outside of the circle. The plan for this year is still being formulated.

Personally, i consider 4 point or higher to be the standard for electronic music.

Welcome Workshop Leaders and Healers!

Below you will find how you can participate in the GMSF...

Call for Workshop Leaders

As many of you know, from previous years, the workshops at the GMSF are just as important, enjoyed, and colorful as the musical character of this festival. Each year we put extra effort in providing an array of programs that not only offer further forms of entertainment, but give an opportunity for attendees to exchange and learn from each other on a more intimate basis, while offering a high quality educational element on topics ranging from science and technology, to astrology, spirituality, sustainability, and yoga/healing. This is an opportunity for the wide range of attendees to bring their special skills and knowledge into a platform for information sharing and idea exchange. The festival truly wouldn’t be all that it is if it weren’t for what you-the attendees-bring to it. If you feel that you have something to offer that would fit within the program of Gaian Mind, please complete the Workshop Submittal Form below and send the completed form to:

workshops@gaian-mind.com

Workshop Submittal Form:

1. Title of Workshop
2. Facilitator Name(s), Phone #, email
3. One sentence description of workshop(s)
4. One paragraph description of workshop(s)
5. Length of your workshop?
6. What city are you from?
7. Do you have experience facilitating this kind of workshop?
8. What type of location does your workshop need? (ie. large space, quite space, covered, with a floor)
9. Does your workshop have any special needs that you cannot provide yourself? If so please state what you would require to conduct your workshop.
10. What day will you be arriving to the festival?

*All workshops must be approved before being added to our program. Workshops must fit within the educational scope of the Gaian Mind Festival or may be deemed inappropriate. Please understand that we have limited spaces and times for workshops so this will affect how many we can host. All workshop leaders are volunteer and must purchase a ticket.

Call for Healers

As an added amenity and service at this year’s festival we would like to offer an official healing area for attendees to escape the swirl of activities to a place of sanctuary and tranquility. Along with the broad music lineup and range of workshops we offer, we also feel it is important to include an opportunity for attendees to obtain balance and insight into their own lifestyles by having some light-health needs met as a complimentary element for a well-rounded experience. The healing area will be nestled in the forest in close proximity to the North Crook Chill Stage and the adjacent creek. With this healing area we would like to open the opportunity for healers to offer their various gifts and skills of healing, ie, massage, reiki, etc., to the broader festival. Healers should have some experience and training in offering their particular type of healing. If you feel that you have a healing service to offer appropriate for the Gaian Mind Festival, please complete the Healing Submittal Form below, and send it to

workshops@gaian-mind.com

Healing Submittal Form
1. Type of healing you can offer
2. Name(s), Phone #, email
3. One sentence description of your type of healing (if uncommon/unfamiliar to many people)
4. How many hours a day would you be willing to offer this service?
5. How many days would you be willing to offer your services?
6. What city are you from?
7. What is your experience/qualifications/background for facilitating this type of healing?
8. What tools would you need in order to offer your healing? (ie. mats, table, blankets, etc.)
9. What tools would you be able to provide? Would these be for your use only or could they be used by all healers/healees?
10. Does your healing have any special needs that you cannot provide yourself, and if so, what?
11. What day will you be arriving to the festival?

*All healers must be approved before being added to our program. Please understand we have limited spaces and times that we will be offering healings so this will affect how many healers we can host. All healers are volunteer and must purchase a ticket.

"Flying? We suggest Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) or Dulles International Airport (IAD) for the closest proximity to the location."

Thanks!

I compared fares yesterday. Fares into PHL and PHI are almost half the cost as those into BWI.           Saturnia
