There are some great albums and artists in this department and I thought it would be nice to have a thered about it, where we can talk and recommend stuff.

There is a lot of productive, innovative and creative music in this department and I'll start with recommending on a few albums.

1) Aerosol - 'Airborne'

A lush, dreamy and tranquil album. Dynamic and gently psychedelic. 9 stunningly crafted sonic landscapes of deep and atmospheric music. A heartwarming, magical potion for the soul.

2) Lights Out Asia -'Eyes Like Brontide'

One of the most beautiful and epic albums ever released in this genre.
Spellbinding all the way. Deeply emotional and atmospheric music.

3) Near The Parenthesis - 'L'Eixample' and 'Music For The Forest Concourse'

These are two extraordinary albums. Mellow yet powerful, gloomy yet hopeful. The sound designs of this artist are so interesting,
unique and extremely beautiful.

4) Hammock - 'Chasing After Shadows...Living with the Ghosts' and 'Maybe They Will Sing for Us Tomorrow'

Pastoral ambient with rich and unique post rock textures and a sort of a modern classical feel.

Beautiful ! !

The music videos are amazing as well.

From 'Chasing...'

From 'Maybe They Will Sing for Us Tomorrow'

I like Hammock quite a bit. Though I only have Kenotic. NTP is excellent as well.

My suggestions:

Though it predates "Shoegaze/Post rock" I'll add in Bowery Electric's "Beat".

Port Royal. All three albums are nice. I like "Dying in Time" quite a bit. I owe my discovery of them to this forum BTW.

Post-rock superstars GY!BE. I love their "Slow Riot for Zero Kanada" EP. BBF3 might get a bit busy for ambient ears, but I love the "determinedly fighting my way upwards" feel of the song.

Definitely will check out Aerosol and LOA shortly!

Hi TechMonkey, thanks for contributing

Yes, Kenotic is a good album, some great tracks on it.

I liked what I have heard from Port Royal so far ( still don't have any of their albums though )

About Godspeed You... well, I know them, but not my cup of tea.

Let me know what you think about Aerosol and Lights Out Asia...

Also, on a slightly different note though, if you have some time, check out these two threads:

Always a pleasure Bom*shankar

LumaDaylight, yes, The Album Leaf and Ulrich Schnauss released some good stuff.

Ulrich Schnauss is probably one of the most famous artists in the turf of Ambient / Electronica / Shoegaze. I like some of his stuff.

LOA is great indeed. All their albums are just great.

Some people might also like Jatun. Check out their first album

"Last Days - The Safety of the North" is a nice one too.

and finally iambic he's got some good post-rock tunes, especially in his early albums

My pleasure

I think that Aerosol's 'Airborne' is one of the best releases by n5MD records. And one of the best releases I have heard lately.

Enchanting music.
