Recently bought 'One Day I'll Be on Time'. A great album.

Hey Dan,

yes, Mogwai are well known in this turf.
They released some nice stuff. The video in the link is cool.

TechMonkey, I have heard about The American Dollar but never got the chance to really check them out. Thanks for the reminder

Sounds that Atlas is really worth buying.

Cheers.

That's a really nice write-up. The teaser vids really had my attention as well. This looks like it's worth seeing. Even to those of us (me) who aren't avid Mogwai fans. I like everything I've heard from them, but never taken the time to explore them.

@ Tech

Yeah its a great DVD and the man behind the filming (Vincent Moon) makes some seriously cool videos.

Another great one by him is here:

Shit sorry I realise this film is somewhat going off track from the original thread.

I will get my head into finding some more Shoegaze/Lo-Fi music and get back here soon

PS: Thanks for starting this thread Bodhisattva. Interesting recommendations so far.           Fluid Radio

My pleasure Dan

Here's another one, though it's more on the electronica side of things but I think it can fit here.

Also, I have started a thread only about Aerosol's 'Airborne' album since it is one of my best finds lately

Cheers !

Forgot about this project. Jonsi & Alex "Riceboy Sleeps". Side project of one of the Sigur Ros members. Might be a bit too beatless, but it does have an ambient shoegaze type feel. The entire album is colored with wistful beauty. This song starts slow and builds late btw.

I'm kind of surprised no mentions of Boards Of Canada yet.           blip.fm/itranscendence

Not really postrock or shoegaze either, but more in the modern classical department. This is one of the most melancholic pieces of music I have heard in a long while. Positively mesmerizing. Especially the simplicity and effectiveness of chords around 2:35-2:52 are out of this world. These 5 minutes will be among the best spent in your life

By all meand check out more work from Nils Frahm (as well as Machinefabriek for more abstract ambient). Truly a gifted artist.

@Timetwister

Great pick!
Nils is a complete genius.

........................

Ok not sure what genre I would pin this down to but thought I would now add for some feedback.

Will be coming up on Fluid Audio's sub label in 2011:
