Picking the right spot on the dancefloor also is very important to get the best balance.
Funktion 1 doesn't really sound very clear when you're not standing in the middle of the audio spectrum. |

Well then the setup is just wrong :S The sound "should" sound great all over the dancefloor. Of course it dosent sound good if you stand like 1 m from the speakers...but apart from that. |

Assuming you have no reflections, you are still going to get the phasing effect when your relative position to each of the Left/Right side stack/speakers, changes.

djones you are absolutely right - i think that pretty much every time i thought the F1's sounded great, you had to stand right in the middle of the rig - nowhere close to the speakers themselves nor relatively left/right to the middle - thats where you got to feel the frequency separation well - for the bass you had the big boxes in the middle and voila  |

Yup.
For a given frequency, where two lines cross, the sound will be louder - points C and E. Where a line crosses between two other lines, the sound will be quieter - points D and F. It's more noticeable with bass frequencies because their wavelength is long enough for it to be easy to move yourself from a quiet zone (of 'destructive interference' to a louder zone (of 'constructive interference'), which is one reason why bass bins are often deployed across the front of the stage. You'll get this with all sound systems.

Yes, it is the same in 5.1, bass always goes to the front...

Does any of you guys know how "Boom festival crew" sets up the speakers? .. Im guessing they dont set them up in a circle arround the dance floor? |

Hehe yes its very exiting to hear about .. But its obvious that he only talks possitive about his own speakers.
Still many people have had bad F1 experiences. Im looking forward for BOOM and really hope to hear a well set-up Funktion system. |

^^ well he also mentions about factors that contributes to a good quality audio listening experience, as he says everything is interconnected if there is a fault in one of the link u might not be able to hear that "best" sound!! as he has mentioned sound engineer plays a very crucial part
i am not saying funktion one is the best or not and i dont want to comment anything about it until i hear them from my own ears .
P.S- went to a party last week, there was a distortion in the sound system (JBL) suddenly out of nowhere and orgs were looking at cables and talking with the sound guy finally figured out it was the problem from the sound card which artist was using!!
