the fusion is already here...
2001 i felf prog and minimal is taking over.
the time was of ticon.
and i felt there is not enough full on psy.
2002 gave us back the full on in a big way.
but also we begin to see this fusion of all styles.
i love this fusion best.
artists like Sesto Sento, Sub6 ...
the future is now !

SMILE ! and the whole world will smile right back at you !

I think the next wave ll be the country psytrance. it ll be very popular in the states. it ll start on 25th of may 2005 with the track McPsy - Beegalow Burger. after 6 months the GMS remix of it ll be released as first step to fusion then the old full on with the country waves. soon a maxi ll be released as a milestone: Midi Milliz remix to fusion country and techtrance and Son Kite rmx to fusion the country and progressive. You couldnt say its definiatley country psy or not, there ll be a lot fusions! McPsy ll release 20 tracks a year, all of them partyhits and then in 2006 a new wave, jazzy psy fans ll hate the country freaks. and then there ll be the fusion of jazzy psy and country psy.

im sounding like a prophet....yeah....

seriously, you cant predict the future, that's all. if you don't like something change to another style or be you the new wave!           Procyon Records

Correction: 1998 was Tim Schuldt and GMS on the dancefloors more than any other act. Whatever you call it, that's not progressive. The progressive "era" was 2000-2001, but like any style, it's changing.

Personally, I think there's a lot of bad music in Progressive, Techtrance, Full-on or any other style you can think up. There's also a lot of good stuff, with some fresh sounds and powerful beats - Sub 6 was given as an example here a few times, but you can add Loopus in Fabula, Domestic, the whole Spirit Zone crew which is never boring, the Twisted Records mafia which continues bringing top notch psytrance, the Bigwigs/Tromesa gang which impressed me at Samothraki, Mr. Peculiar and the Australian scene in general developing into wonderful directions, and of course the veterans like Koxbox, Electric Universe, Shiva Chandra and Weirdo Beardo which keep don't really stay locked into one style like a lot of new acts...

My guess is that psychedelia will be coming back in a grand way back into the mainstream music after years of having "psychedelia light" music (Ticon, GMS, you name it) controlling the dancefloors. People will continue looking for something new, and that's just under everyone's nose.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

ok, ok, I think I got it. "Progressive" is a term which applies to the very structure of the track and not to the specific sounds or melodies / no melodies used.
So, does that mean that the vast majority of the music produced before 1998 was progressive, for example with the different melodic layers coming one after the other ? That's what Gilad said IMO.

Kaz doesn't seem to agree since he said "The progressive "era" was 2000-2001".

Maybe it's because in those days "Full-on" appears, a kind of melodic music without multi-layers or changes in rhythm (but is it always true ? certainly not), so to distinguish between "Full-on" and the rest of the psy production "Progressive" was a useful shortcut ?

Anyway, don't take my "theories" too seriously, I'm basically having fun playing with words !

that's not what i meant
in the melodic goa era, the main thing about the music was melodies and psychedelia.
so both me and kaz are correct. in those years(what kaz said) the progressive artists focused mainly on the intelligent structure and flow of the track. sometimes (most times) on the expence of psychedelia.           REHAB is for quitters

What is some good full on from current times anyhow? I haven't been able to find anything at all... been buying nothing but swedish-type progressive stuff, which is finally turning a bit more melodic than it was a couple of years ago... take the new Son Kite, 12 Moons, and Vibrasphere material for example very nice. But I still like my full on... where can I get a dose of the non-superficial stuff?

While surfing, I came across this :

"Progressive is also used as a term which modifies preexisting genres and ameliorates "hard" styles. For example, a recent trend has combined two very different, very widely listened to, and very profitable styles: Drum & Bass and Ambient. This seemingly improbable mixture has been promoted under the (assumed) name "Progressive Drum & Bass" - that is, Drum & Bass which features washes and patinas of chord colors, "ethnic" sounds, and an overall lower aural density than typical Drum & Bass." -- from Hyperreal

This definition applies prefectly to Progressive Trance: Progressive Trance is ameliorated Trance, softening the often quite hard driving sounds of pure Trance, often with real instruments or the human voice."

Just to give another way to look at this eternal debate.

hehe obviously we have some conflicting ideas and opinions here. this thread is about a full on infection, and there is another one in the same section about the strange phenomena in the trance scene (movement from "psy full on" to prog)
its interesting how different people observe the movement and progression in the scene differently           Why u little !!!
