What I got from Elysium's post and agree with is that in the past, since building a studio was very expensive and time consuming, most of the ppl who did it, did it out of true love to the music, from deep inside them. Today, a lot of ppl create music hoping for fame and glory.

And I dont think the dinosaurs had lots of money, I think they were so into it, they had put in any nickle and dime they could (besides their soul)

About own style...For now from fullon i know only 3-4 project with own style...it's Sub6,Hujaboy(Nir make great sound),Some artiests from SouthAfrica. But Milicia,Dinamic..Sesto sounds like like onE project. And realy simple..with out soul...and interseting ideas...The same bassline, same percusion, same sounds..nothing new.I read every review in Forum section and always people write...ohh it's best album of the year....and in fact nothing special.Today a lot of Plugins..Synths...and artiests can creat different interesting new sounds, but no! all use the same nord patches...same Akai CDs..nothing new.
Like here in russia..all make music in parasense sound style.Fungus,Kin dza dza and so on.

ummm how can full on artists have different styles cause they all do full on

full on = repeative bassline & a beat + cheesy "melodies"           "The dinosaurs became extinct because they didn't have a space program."

This discussion is an academic pissing contest, in my opinion. If people love the music that Malcia, atomic pulse and psydrop create (similer to the astrix sound), who are we to say that they shouldn’t.

I spoke with an Israeli artist (progressive), about this (why a lot of people are recreating the astrix sound), and you know what he told me; People see Astrix and see that he doesn’t have a real job (other then producing trance), and he lives by all standards a good life (he has money in his bank accounts), and the other artist see this and they want the same. They have come to the conclusion that this is what the masses want (full on alla astrix formula).

I don’t know about you but I feel that there is being produced a lot quality stuff, both when it comes to full on but definitely also progressive (and I listen mostly to progressive 65 % 35%), you just have to keep an open mind (taken from blood sport )

Come on Traveller don’t let your own subjective points of view cloud your mind. The word cheesy is being used in this forum far too often, and with out any legitimacy, other then it being a biased opinion. The expression cheesy is a very individual definition, you have your definition and I have mine. The only thing I hope we can agree on is the fact the Euro-trance melodies are “cheesy”.

Cheers

doooooood...
this is the deal... there are more artists so more music so inevitably, more variety...it is easier to do it now than before so there is more individuality, not less elysium....

further, as people listen to full on, one can observe what it is that people want... call if commercial or call it whatever, more people like it... bottom line...

also you can see the violent and uplifting nature of full on that a lot of israelis and people from other parts of the world with violence in the back of their minds enjoy, including my self... full on is relatively new, and justbecause first there was astrix gms and alienproject and few others and now there are 50 or more doing it, means that people like that shit... and the newer full on is amazing!!!!!

power to the people, long live full on!!!!

peace in the middle east!!!

you know what? as a math inclined dood, i see it as a sum of two things: a cyclical component plus what i call a 'drift'.

the cycle explains the progy/full-on abundance in certain periods...it's funny, 'cause i've been around for more than four years now, and i've seen this cycle twice already - back in 2000, everyone wanted to be like Iboga and the minimals...then 2001 came and GMS became the household name (and I was quite into Absolum that year - 'wild' did it for me big time)...and then 2002 and everyone sorta discovered Son Kite and the proggy gang, bringing together the influence from the house/tech scenes...and now, 2003 is coming to an end and all we talk about is how it was the year of the israeli full-on, the attack of the astrix clones...

the drift is what pushes this scene into different directions, it's the creativity of the people, the true innovators - people like Atmos, or Sub6, or the whole Twisted posse, who sometimes come up with brilliant ideas and sounds that spawn whole new directions to pursue musically.

what lies in the future? no idea. but i stopped bitching about israeli full-on domination (which for me includes GMS, but let's not focus on this). i just don't care anymore.

the thing is: pursue your own sound. open your mind. listen to a lot of different things. and (surprise surprise) every now and then an album or compilation comes out that do it for you big time (i experienced that with Highpersonic Whomen, Human Blue, BLT to name a few)...and don't forget to actually go out and buy it, support the sound you crave.

oh, all of that is very much imo btw.           the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist....
