shulman, i agree with every word you said.

i want to add that full on or progg.... there is always a good music or a bad music. u, as a listener chosing whats best for you.
its known that lots of artists doing full on nowadays for the "ppl requests" but some artists making beautifull amazing full-on in their on creativity way.
i can mark some who doing realy shity progg and also some who do it in amazing way.
i think that taste comes befor commercialism.
if something i like will turn to be commercialise, it wont stop me from hearing it...

.... try to set the night on.... ffffiiiiirrrreeeeeeee
          just flow baby... just flow...

I found this definition in my bookshelf under synonyms for commercialism:

commercialism (noun)
bad taste: commercialism, commercialization, prostitution of talent

back to the topic

I think music evolves and moves on.

Look at classic music - once it was the main thing and everyone was making it, now, very few people make classic music, yet it is still alive and thriving.
Look at Rock music - once it was the biggest thing around, totally new and exciting. now, it is not the outsidish music it used to be, but mainstream and still going.
Same will happen to Trance, with all it's types - it will keep on coming, it just evolves and moves on - almost no one makes pure goa-trance anymore, once it was the only thing...

I think there are two reasons for what is happening - the first is people trying to be inovative and create something new - they can either stay in the area they know or move on to something that for them is completely new and try there, knowing the outcome will be different.
The second is that people want to sell, people want to live and get paid, and esoteric music want give them that.

hello guys!!! u say a lot of labels release only fullon now,but for my opinion that 80% Of new fullon tracks which is out now..is shit!!! A lot of project sounds like astrix or GMS.Most new artiests don't have there own style...+in the hole world there r a lot of kids r going to parties. And they need only XTC and they don't care what is playing on the dancefloor. They need fast bpm+GMS basslines. We have this problem in russia too.I think that is main problem now.People lost taste.!!!3-4years..ago most of releases were realy quality. But now...labeles release a lot shit.!!!

Trance is a genre
in trance there seem to be so many genre s too.

Artists have their distinct styles
Unfortunately there is not a huge bunch of money in this genre NOW.

So I can feel a lot of artists deversifying but are they really deversifying or selling out to where the money is.

I see a lot of superior artists psychedelic stars that once used inovative techniques to reach us, that are now on a course of a full morning full on sound. Personaly not to my taste now.

why are they selling out
MONEY

then there are others eg.
Kluster
have you even heard his new sound
OSOm style all the way
here is an artist who is creating and making a stand and will be remembered for his progress not digress like some others.

Your styles are what make all of u special

Well i have to disagree here,
All over the years in every genre of music in the world there was a magority of crap ( my opinion only) releases and a much smaller presentage of good stuff. in the "good old" progressive peak days every bad production pieace of kick bass and one synth squeaking here and there with low bpm was released in lots of small labels(i know i made and sold some myself). its true that many artists sound similiar but this happens all the time al over the years.
its just a matter of who is on top right now.

I have to agree with Neogen and disagree with HujaBoy

I think it's never been worse than now when it comes to "copy" bands. And why? Because so many more people make music today due to the availability of powerful computers and tons of "free" software out there. Go back 5 years and you'll see that it was a very costly affair to build a studio, so it was mainly people that had made music before they discovered trance that made the music. Of course it did not mean that all of them made more professional music but to be honest the individuality was much more present!

It's just too easy to call yourself an artists today just because you got a superfast computer and a lot of cracked software...

I do not say that the soundquality was better then - far from! But the ideas and uniqueness was way better. In my opinion there's just too many artists out there today sounding like a new clone of Infected, GMS ect. ect. It's kind of getting boring

True, but there is also more and more new artists/labels and established artists/labels that distant their sound from these standards.

Peace out.

Yes I agree I just don't think they represent the traditional Full-on or psy music at the moment

I agree that many artists copy and sound the same , but a really bad thing is coming out in your words.
What u mean is music making is better kept with people hwo have money? (people that can afford more than a computer) .
The change that has been made is amazingly beutifull.
the chance for ANYONE to make his music.

No no I did not mean it that way HujaBoy. I think you misunderstood me there

I was merely saying that because of the fact it was so expensive to buy a studio not so many people could make music and it was mostly people that already were established "musicians" or DJ's that had access to studios. And therefore the music was more unique and personal.... Because there were few artists around. as soon as there's a big bunch of people doing music the ideas and individuality dissaper to some extend.

I too think it's great that more people have access to making music but I also think it's taken a bit overhand these days. I understand that people love the music passionately but that does not mean that they have to make music. As I always say. We cant all be painters
