hey im having trouble figuring out how to get pro sounding basslines, tried many different synths including my nord lead, regular saw low passed...but dry no matter how much filter n envelope tweaking cant get it to sound clean, deep and just good, so thinking lots of what makes a good bassline has more to do with processing than just a saw and low pass as i read online. So what kind of fx u guys use to process ur basslines? ne advice much appriated, thnks |

looks like the 4 common used fx are :
quadrafuzz
eq to cut
eq to boost
compressor
but cant find info on proper order of them in chain. How should i order them?

There are no hard and fast rules, but I've observed that most people do EQ then compress.
My bass chain is EQ, then Decapitator, then compression personally.

eq and "harmonics enhancers" are the 2 must for me after it s compression but it s not as important as the other 2 ,saturators can make the sound to really cut.
if your monitoring condition are bad you will nevr make a great sounding kick bass.. or maybe in 6 month after lot of trial and errors |

Maybe you don't have the ears trained enough to know what to tweak to clean your bass.
Also take the kick into account. Maybe getting a better one can help.
I manage to dial great basses using just LP sawtooth on decent vst... eq, comp and distortion are just make up for an already pretty girl.
Start making an Ohmpa offbeat bassline and get it tight, then add the rest of the notes, you might need to readjust your envelope settings a little.
But there is no magic fx... i'd also like to advice you to fine tweak your env depth and filter decay since in this task 10 milliseconds can make the difference. |
