Only other thing would be a Hz value indicator on the depth knob.

That would be nice.

This would only reflect the Hz at where the sweep starts, and thus does not reflect the actual note which the kick 'lands on'. The tonality of the kick is 'selected' using the piano keys. The philosophy of having a relative value rather than an absolute one, is that you have to find your sound by ear. I hoped it would be more intuitive this way.. but when both of you are missing a Hz readout, then it gets noted on the 'future features'-list i could easily do some switching, so that users could select whether they wanted the readout to be in Hz or in CC value... cool idea.           - Making Denmark a nastier place since 1974

Hey bro, thanks for the explanation. Although I managed to create some good kicks with the stomp I started to compare it to Bazzism wich is my weapon of choice for bassdrum creation and I still find something in the pitchsweep in stomp that I don't like too much...

I tried making the same kick using both synths, stomp is at C1 and Bazzism at 65hz (c1) then i tried to set the pitch depth / curve to similar values and here is the result:

http://www.mediafire.com/?z9kxg4ji8scoo4v

First the Stomp kicks (4) then the Bazzism ones.

Honestly I know it is almost nothing but I still feel bazzism has more punch you know, the pitch shift happens in a way that makes it feel tight and percussive and stomp stills feel like a quick sweep rather than a percussive element.

Perhaps it is some kind of internal envelope or different curve idk much about technical side of this stuff but i think you can benefit a lot from studying bazzism.

If i had to guess i'd say that bazzism treats the sinewave with a curve that provides much more control for the initial part of the sweep (attack). Playing with the vSweep slider is similar to the Curve knob on the stomp, when curve knob is set all the way to the right it sounds like peewww and this pitching is not desirable, the range in which that sound happen is too big, i find my self using very low curve settings almost all the time, while in bazzism the vSweep could produce the pew effect too but only at extreme values, other settings provide different kick characters.

I find this hard to explain but i hope you did understand. Guess i'm trying to say something like make the pitch shift less evident and make it serve the purpose of defining the kick's initial stage.

Glad to help man. I'm sure the stomp is already cool for many kick styles and maybe i'm just being picky

I'll stay close to the subject.

Peace!

PS. Taking a look at Logic's ultrabeat might also be helpful. Cheers.

Getting all this feedback from you guys really is helpfull! ... so:

4th version is ready
http://www.audiosonic.dk/stomp.dll

Corrections:
- Faster envelopes in general, for better punch
- All new aggessive 'Curve' algorithm.

Other features i might forgot to mention earlier:
- Room for 128 presets
- Sends and receives both VST and MIDI CC# automation (MIDI CC#: 20-25)
- Knob values ranges from 0-127 to resemble MIDI automation values
- Hold down CTRL with left mousebutton for knob finetune
- Leftclick displays to enter parameter values manually
- 100% velocity sensitivity for easy accent and ghost hits
- Control the pitch of the kick using MIDI notes

Features planned:
- Some kind of manual that you can open easily while working
- Stuff the bloody thing with some nice presets

I have to run for now.. :S

Wasn't it better if you have a knob for the finetune? I mean i hope i'm not being rude i'm just making suggestions dude, but it would be nice to have the finetune knob there and when you click any other knob the finetune knob would display that knob's finetune, shit i don't think i was clear enough, but this is already nice bro, and i think i can help you to make the presets, if you want my help of course.

Hey Audiosonic looking forward to explore the new version! Ill comment soon.

AFAIK Most synths use CNTRL+click to set knob pos to default and SHIFT for fine tune

K ignore my last suggestion, it's really unnecessary, and i gotta tell that i'm digging your kick plugin, but i think i found gold, by which i mean a bug: I can't load 2 Stomp instances in the same project (FL).

Also, here's some kicks i made while trying it out: http://www63.zippyshare.com/v/27000757/file.html
(Ignore the "distorted" artifacts, i had to export the k's and load them in another project to make the big combo, so some quality has been lost while exporting)

EDIT: I forgot to mention, i'm a big fan of long kicks.

Sorry for really fast post, i'm in a bit of a hurry :S

I just tried loading 4 instances of Stomp in FL studio. They all played fine, and nothing went bad.

What happened when you tried this? Did you get an errormsg or something?

Tried to load 4 instances now, 3 worked fine, the other had an extra click besides the kick, well i guess it's no bug.

Ethik, thanks for the drum mp3 i kinda think this thing has finally got some oomph, and i'm glad you like it!

Now i'm almost forced to get some music done to check out how it blends into a full arrangement

Yes, the plugin now works fine with percussion elements and feels less like a oneshot thing. So great job.

Hey guys... i've been trying the latest version and I must say you nailed there Audiosonic.

I was able to make various effective kicks
Here i share you a 6 kick preset pack :
http://www.mediafire.com/?43ws2qar5vk53m3

I created them using note at C-1 (that's one octave below C0) in Ableton... i don't know why but i liked better how the parameters behave there so place your notes as low as needed to sound like a kick.

Here a quicky with no more than stomp n cronox... no eq no nothin' (headphone made im at work)

Only other wish for the vst would be a decay knob or a way to control the fadeout / release.

I might start a track with Stomp see where it goes from there

cheers!

I've just tried 4 instances with same presets and then again with different presets. And I have no issues what so ever in FL 10.0.2.
Can you reproduce the click if you render the pattern out?

Thanks for helping us out, guys. Usualy it is just the two of us planning, developing and testing. And I can't describe how much more constructive our work have been because of your feedback.

Yes the click right before the kick appears in the sound when rendered - http://www13.zippyshare.com/v/19991430/file.html

Loaded 10 instances of your kick plugin, only the second made this click, now i'm not sure of this error and maybe this isn't your problem at all, maybe it's just my laptop bitching about it. But anyway nice work you two.
