i hope im in the right place, if not move it or delete this post.
i had a long conversation with "john doe" ,
he's from iran , he told me he is a big fan of psytrance and trance in generally.
so far so good. the problem is that listening to psy trance or any other electronic music in iran is illegal.
when i asked him what the hell is that means he explaind that in iran you cant do whatever you want , and listening to this kind of music in ur car "loudly" will get you into trouble's, the police can confiscate
( i hope thats the right term ) ur car and you will have to pay the fine that can get up to 700$ to be able to free ur car.
i dont want to get in the political aspect of our conversation about how TV is full
of lies and both sides of the country's (israel & iran) see only half truth ect...
but the thing that amazed me the most was the inability of a person to buy his favored CD , well sure you can order it on the net but like he said: if a CD cost like 12$ i need to pay 80$ or something like that.
but who will want to buy a CD even if it costs 2$ , you can go to jail for that.
i was in shock after this conversation,
i learned some new things about our world.
think for a second, this nice guy never heared a track in high quality like WAVE never felt the experience of a good sound, for sure not something you can get from MP3 or whatever.
so the meaning of this post is to share what i have learned this morning
and i was wondering if there are more people like this guy in iran or if there are more country's with similar condition.

It is unbelievable that there are such things in the word. Countries stacked in the midlevel days. That is the ugly Nero minded part of their religion, the same part theat made woman hide their faces.

Interesting post man.
I think that the quality of the music for him is negligable. The fact is that he is enjoying the taste of a forbidden fruit gives him the biggest pleasure. The difference between MP3 and Wave is not that much important here. Back in USSR people were recieving crappy copies of albums from the West and were enjoying the music much more than their Eastern friends. I had once an argument with some Russian guy that was convinced about existance of some Beatles' LP which was infact just a Russian Bootleg. He was so convinced that Beatles indeed had this album while the truth that it was just a bootlegged compilation of their best tunes.
Music (and art generally) breaks walls between people. It's a fact.

I don't think that is fair man!
Its their religion and they are true followers. Just let them be. You have no right to comment on someone eles's beliefs, i think thats wrong.
Mind your own business and respect them for who they are. Its reckless statements like yours thats creating half the problems in this world. I'm not saying you are causing any problems  but just the statement, i'e the comment about the headscarf.
As for the poor guy who pays a fortune for a cd, i don't know what to say. Maybe the people there believe that there is more to life than just Psy trance.
Also, maybe the fact its an Islamic state,has something to do with it.

They didn't stuck. They are going back to midlevel stage since they got the new ultra conservativ president (sorry forgot the name).
And in this case it is the way they want to practise their religion. It is almost taliban like when they ruled in afganistan.
Afaik there were much more freedom before they got new president his party, maybe anyone know more about it then me. All my informations are from a working mate, who comes from iran and studies medicine here. Signature |

Not only USA is doing this. They are one of the more human guys. Check some stuff about north korea or china, some african states or columbia e.g.

Yeah yeah I was just making a point that paying money in order to listen to psytrance in your car is far from horrible as a hell of a lot more fucked up things happen even in the west..

Well I have a problem when a government takes the freedom form the ppl. A non democrat government. That is not what the ppl want; it's about what the government. Like EYB Said - Taliban.

well this topic it's a little political and religious, but people should be free to listen to whatever music they like , electronic or not. But I'm sure the prohibition to hear electronic music isn't in the list of the worst and discriminative iranian laws... |
