I agree with most and think that this is one of the best chill albums of the year, not quite as good as Hallucinogen, but pretty damn close!!

Same for me, one of the best chill's of 2002, I enjoy it already for several month. Hope the next one is as good as this one.

Entheogenic sets the new standard in psychedelic chill-out, on which everthing should be measured.

I hope they are staying in their line of work.

I only got this last Friday so am not really prepared to review it properly. Just to comment that the Shpongle connection IS evident, by way of similar if not some exact same samples. Shpongle is even thanked in the liner notes. "are you shpongled?" though is quite a heavy listen, whereas this is not. It is not as intense or complicated or deep or demanding of your most undevided attention. I guess in a way this counts in its favour, it is not the kind of album you need to prepare properly for to listen to, just pop it in and you have some nice background music. The shpongle connection did make me expect that where vocals were used, to expect an effect to be applied to them, and I sorely missed this. To an extent the vocals annoyed me a bit because they were not treated. The opera singing especially annoyed me without having been treated, fortunately this vocal style is only used in on one or two tracks. I did enjoy the indian guru style speaking (in tongues) vocals (not treated (enough?) though) in one of the tracks. I found the beat structure a bit simple most times, thought they could do with a bit more attention. All in all it seems to be a harmless listen, and the back half can be cranked up without getting embarrassed too much. I think I should have tried their new album instead, except it is not available here yet. If their new album sounds too much like this I think I will give it a miss.
This effort for me (so far).... 6.5 out of 10.
Might have rated more highly if it was still 2002. I would like to hear what people think of this cd now as opposed to 2002/3, and compared to their new release....

Almost 3 years past since then. I went back and listened to it again, and I still like it very much. I think its one of the most beautiful chill albums.

Their second album is deeper and weirder if its that what you are after, it is way more complex then the first one.

I don't compare them to Shpongle since I dont like Shpongle all that much.
