Also love it as psytrance the IDM
Aphex Twin, Square Pusher, Atari Teenage Riot, Scanner are simply genius.
Also deeply disturbed by the Mansell dude's music, the one that made the soundtracks for Requiem for a dream and PI, im chasing the dragon on that one.

I would definetly kiss the DJ's ass that would play me some wicked IDM at a peak of the party. I would kill some dancers if i danced like on Aphex Twin - Didgeridoo.
And forgot to mention the band that makes your bones become salte Mouse On Mars.           http://www.insected.com

Ooh.. nice topic, one that I never would have suspected to crop up here.

I too have been sucked in by the electro sound, the more vintage analog sounding and cheesy the better. Italo disco meets this criteria very well too.

Some names to look out for if you're into this sytle: Legowelt, I-F, Orgue Electronique, Bangkok Impact, and the wonderful Dr. Lektroluv series.

I've been listening to the Electrolux label for years, some of the best releases are the early ones which are quite hard to find nowadays. The style is typically a very polished electro-ambient combination that makes for superb chillout/late night listening.
Some artists to look out for: Soehngenetic, Ruxpin, JFC, Sushi Club, Fresh Moods, and Aural Float (which is a Gab le Mar project btw)

Im not the biggets cheezy electro fan, but when those deep, dark synth sounds are present, i am sonically satisfied..

Hadshot has been releasing some massive electro sounds along with the new X-dream album too.. much great music to come.

I especially like Anthony Rother (even when there is vocal's present) as long as he keeps using that sick Synth sound..           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9

I think the sound he's talking more about in the orig topic is more 'nu-electro' and electroclash.

I find the term 'electro' to be a bit confusing also, espically electroclash, as it seems to cover a wide-range of sounds and styles. Ranging from the 80s-casio-keyboards and bad-hair electro (which I dont like much), to the more hiphop influenced stuff, to stuff which is more techno or even trance-sounding.

I've really been digging the electro-ish sound for the past while, but more along the lines/style of the original poster.

I remeber the first time I heard stuff of that style, I was at a weekly party called Overdose in Montreal, I had NO clue what was being played, so I asked someone next to me "oh, its electroclash..."

made me go 'huh?' ... as it was totatly not the sound I had previously associated with it, to me, the stuff was being spun was very close to sounding like psytrance but with a techier-edge.

Alter Ego, Sweetlight, DJ Hell, Miss Kitten, The Hacker, Anthony Rother, T. Raum (LOVE his stuff), Metope, Basteroid,

sender-records has amazing stuff on it, however they are more minimal techno than electro.

I find that alot of the 'electro' that I like, is more on the techo-sounding side of it.

While it may of had its roots in the hiphop/break/etc type thing, its come along way and has changed/morphed since then into a very new sound.

5Meo-Geo played Didgeridoo in one of his sets (and Actionist Respoke by Mouse on Mars in the same one btw). There are parties with this kind of music out there. Just don't expect to hear GMS being played in those parties, I heard that liking Anthony Rother makes you allergic to that music.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

KakoOlalaJwal I really liked your description of electro, seems like ur into it.. Respect!

electro was there from the begining and now it is still one of the most underground style of
electronic music
in psy scene today the only producers that make electro that is highly appriciated in the electro world is Der Interpret (MidiMiliz, The Delta, X-Dream) there should be an album
comming up soon hopefully this summer.. that will take electro scene by storm! Metalogic also coocked some sick electro trax that will soon be released on his upcomming album..

here are some of my favorite electro producers:

Der Interpret
Silicon Scally (Carl A. Finlow)
Subtonal
Johannes Heil
The Advent
Andrea Parker
The Hacker
Anthony Rother (Little Computer People)
Two Lone Swordsmen

hello R:) let me disagree with u about Advent music:)

he is pure techno man!
