oh yes it happened, electronica section
so all electro-freaks come here and share why, when and what.

ok, let me start, it started when my ears could understand what is music, i spinned vinyls of any electronic music my grandpa had, stuff like zodiac, jean-michele jare, yello etc. then i moved to dance/techno music like snap, 2unlimited, the prodigy etc. in 97 i met psytrance, but still stuff like prodigy, chemical brothers. crystal method was there for me.

electronic music got real good vibe and message, very inspiring for my productions and i enjoy to play it at home. i'm very addicted to funk influences in this music and good pumpin' beats, aslo great chill music always make me happy.

what? here is my list of favourite artists:

Well, after coming back to Israel from the states, I quickly discovered techno and then moved to rave, then to gabber, then to breakbeats and finally psytrance became my greatest love (with Hallucinogen's Twisted album)... until 1996, when I started to discover Aphex Twin, and then started the move back and forth between IDM and psytrance (with a bit of DnB in the middle too), but slowly moving towards the more experimental side of electronica when psytrance started becoming less and less adventerous.

Nowadays, I listen a lot to these following acts:

2 Lone Swordsmen
Amon Tobin
Anthony Rother
Aphex Twin
Autechre
Brothomstates
Chris Clark
Coil
Displacer
Eardrum
Esem
Lackluster
Machine Drum
Metamatics
Mouse on Mars
Murcof
Plaid
Plastikman
Psilodump(er, uter)
Squarepusher
Speedy J
Twerk
Venetian Snares

... and a lot more. I'm still discovering new acts all the time, there are just so many wonderful musicians out there for the people looking for something different. Warp and Merck are the two biggest labels in the IDM world and have so much great music up their sleeve that it's just amazing, and then there are a million smaller labels all releasing wonderful stuff.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

// little bit offtopic but its my point i have to say:

I got into listening electronica with pleasure a few weeks ago. I felt very bored about the masses of actual psytrance-releases which became to 99.99% flat repetitions of unindividual and substitutive sounds we had listenend the 10^10th time before.
I can not explain, how sad I fell about the evolution of our scene and our music. If there would'nt be a technical evolution of technical audio-equitment permanently, there where no real sound-evolution anyway, because the less innovations of the artists would not subtend a flat curve of trancemusic-progression... (Its enough here, ok)

I went to a CD-Shop and came back home with an electronic-compilation in my hands. It was not the first time I have listenend to sounds like this, but it was the first time i have listenend to it with attention. I recognized all the differences between the tracks on the compilation, every track was realy individual and there are no rules and formulas of creation. No duplication, no borders. I recognized how much psytrance took hold of me and today I see a lot of new unborn styles of electronic beats, floorkillers and genius chilltracks which are not found untill today.

We will find them, but trancemusic as it sounds like it sounds like today, will not help us.

I strongly recommend everyone who is a Dj or produces music or who is just listening music out there to crash down the actual definitions of boundaries.
Listening to electronica will help you, because it is one of the most innovative styles we have.

Some pearls which open my mind:

Laurent Garnier - Communications from the lab
Denny Almonde - Tubular Scene
Susumy Yokota - Kodomotachi

PS: I'm realy interested about people who think the same. If you have the same or a completely different piont of view, feel free to write more..

well said Kitnam!

yes psytrance nowdays is closed in a loop and really low percent of artists make a progressions and experiments. but this thing not makes me go completely to other music, cause i still can find the jewels in it and many cool people making great music on the scene.

yes, i'm an electronic music addict too. this music full of energy and ideas.

well, you can't recomend every dj and producer to listen to it, cause not every one can love it, someone can take inspiration from rock, classic music or even rap they just should not be closed on what they heard or know, like some universal structure, they should innovate and break the rules.

in my few years of music production, i explored many directions like: goa trance, psytrance, fullon, progressive, club trance, house, ambient, breakbeat, electronic, alternative, hiphop... and i have no problem to make psytrance at 125 bpm and say it's a dancefloor killer or something

go go revolution           Without Deviation, Progress Is Not Possible.

You are right PROSECT, not everyone can love electronica. I do not want promote the crash of boundaries with creating new ones. Electronica helps me a lot nowadays getting new and fresh killing ideas for my own music after a long time of confusion and useless sequencing in my homestudio. I think i was not able to accept to myself, that psytrance-music is not my cup of tea anymore.

I love a lot of the IDM stuff, very inspiring and fresh concepts... but does anyone ever find that they wish that some of the tracks had some more of the structure and developement qualities of more psychedelic music. Do you know what I mean?

Well, I have to add that each genre has its positives and negatives, the beauty and the anglyness...

Im an electronic music addict too, and i have to say that listening to all this genres makes me more knowledgeable as far as music boundaries... It helps me to go a bit further, opens doors...

Like prosect said each producer has its own inspirations... For me the good ones that you can tell from their results are those that listen to loooots of music...

Not just installing a soft and use the present and trying to do something that a couple of others are doing...

I found my self lots of times, while listening to some tracks, feel the "spaced out" feeling...

Im not gonna mention tracks or names cause there are so many, so many varieties and subgenres, that it would be very frastrating for someone that doesnt know to view all these...

Keep listening and experimenting... Borrow a cd from a friend, read what other ppl say about other types of music, dont be close minded... Feed your mind with all those jewlwries that exist out there.... they just waiting for u to discover them...
