This is a comment to poof...Plz take a look at the iboga backstock catalogue and tell me if we took som risks, i think our range of releases includes a very varied selection of dance and chill music...http://www.iboga.dk/index.php?menuItem=iboga03

And btw my review of Swiss connection:

Domo Records have provided us with another compilation and it has had a long ride in the pipeline before reaching us listeners. It’s their third in line, this time compiled by the Swiss Dj “Shybe”. The Style is selection of good quality progressive trance. I never heard Shybe play a DJ set but if this is his standard, then I must say that he has a fine taste in music. I must say I wish that there was some information in the cover of the cd about the artists; this is something we sadly don’t find way too often with the cd´s. In the cover you will find two internet addresses which is said to hold more information regarding this release, namely:
www.shybe.ch.vu and www.domorecords.com

Let’s take a closer look at the selected tracks.

V-Tunes / Dancer

The first track is written by Sandro Kulka & Hans Muster and starts off with a nice tribal groove, moving in nice rhythm patterns and building slowly along with some few simple sounds swinging along. In the middle of the track we get a deep flowing atmospheric theme but after a long building break, the track continues in the same pace for the finish. Any way the cd opens with a track in the good end.

Export Audio / Sexy Angel

Track two is by Leif Hatfield & Frank Beckers and has a more dry approach as the groove is build on an offbeat bass line, playing along with some very dry 303 like notes. The track moves forward with a female voice sample popping in here and there and after 2.40 we get a building break where the beat kicks in freshly afterwards followed by a crispy offbeat sound. But the track doesn’t really do the job as it tends to be a little boring, well I guess the experience will be better when heard at the dance floor.

Freq vs. Spherical / Bitshifter

Next up is the Australian Aran Gallagher, on this tune writing with Dave Young. They have together created a deep and emotional journey. A brilliant story and thread shines through as the sounds are weaved into the groove. This track is a stand out on the compilation!

Psyless Groove / Rattlesnake Hills

Lasse Svendsen & Simon Ravnlřkke from Denmark are behind this tune, they are known for their progressive dry style with a lot of percussion elements in complex patterns, topped with fine tuned melodies and this one is no exception as this is exactly what we get. They are coming up these days and are doing a mighty fine work here.

Insane Creation / Ksesa

This one is written by Dave Walitza and here we go slightly deeper with a solid groove and an offbeat bass line backed up with some barking sounds and deep melodies. The track has its difficulties getting away from the main field but manages to keep the standard on the compilation.

Shaman / Electro Swordswing

Andreas Henning from Sweden is behind some true progressive trance smashers recently (Random Shape and Aftershock among others). And this one keeps up the expectations as it follows the pace set out from his recently released album on Plusquam Records, which I enjoyed a lot. A real talent!

Sven Snug / Pink Donut

Oliver Krebser has here created a tune in the simpler end with a solid foundation, topped with various chords forming a minimal melodic approach with few sound effects that doesn’t really move me in the end!

Sensifeel / Back to the future

Here we pick up the tempo a bit with a mover by Phillipe Sancier. A Car horn like sound along with some effect soaked sweeping sounds follows the groove before a break floats in and picks up the beat again with another effect soaked synth flowing in and out. Some nice hi hat patterns picks up the groove and it’s by far the most trancey track on the compilation.

Bonus Track: Antix / Free as we are – BLT remix

The already famous remix here concludes an average cd compilation with some good standout tracks. And this bonus is a real smile bringer. Yuli Fershtat has given the original track more tempo and melody that just keeps teasing and does the job superbly for a sun soaked dance floor.

Conclusion:

In all a good compilation, though tending to fall a little towards the average, nevertheless it’s a good buy with DJ tools for the progressive trance fans! 7.5/10! Review by DJ Banel June 2004

Bought this one over a month ago, but because of the big pile of other great music, I never really gave this one a thorough listen.

Looking at the list of artists I expected something really extraordinary, but I was a little bit disappointed. Not that it’s bad, I guess my hopes where just too high.

Standouts for me are FREq and Sphericals “Bitshifter” (although “Suzuki Son” was much better), “Rattlesnake Hills” from Psyless Groove (cant wait to hear these boys live in August), and “Electro Swordswing” from Shaman – a really nice follow-up on his great debut album.

Overall a quite good compilation for progressive lovers. Some tracks are housy, some are quite minimal, and most of them are very groovy
