I don't think a "famous" artist gets away with a shitty track just because of its reputation.
Maybe even more so that we expect the best from the best, and when they don't deliver we are even more dissapointed.

Thats the point, famous artists can get away most of the time with shitty tracks, even Dado can do that sometimes LOL

But afterwards you cant have a shitty tune by Dado LOL           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

I'll always check out things by artists whose stuff I've liked in the past but I won't write something off because I don't know the artist, that would be dumb. I'd never get into anything new!
If I hear a track I like I'll go out of my way to find out what it's called and who it's by.
An interesting name will always appeal to me as well. I too would choose Mr. Bernard from Switzerland over Infected rejected supersonic psycho asylum lsd dude or whatever you called him.           "One nation under a groove".

yes , the name and reputation of an artist does influence me... if i like the artists prior work, its obvious i'll look into more of their work!! thats not to say names i havent heard of dont stand a chance <thats a bit elitist if u ask me>. i'll listen to it all, and if i like, i get it, simple as that really...

The name of an artist does not affect me - it's the music that affect me! The work in a track! I don't mind if a good artist named himself as "Britney Spears" or "123"

Well, I never remember artists' names. Or track names for that matter...
It will influence my first listening (oh, I wanna listen to the new CD by....) but it will not prevent me from hearing others (who did you say that was???)
Once I listen to a CD, I cant really remember who it is and who was before....

it's the age... Im getting senile

definitely....i will give an example not from music....the Movies, I would definitely like to go to a spielberg movie....I don't think the same movie by some unknown director would do so well...

it's all a case of marketing, lets face it! Then why else do big stars in Hollywood earn huge amount of money? Because their name has the pull....same goes for music too...the big name have the pull and in the end, i guess it kind of influences you....

my 2 cents!

when i listen to a track by a new artist for the first time i pretty much judge the artist by the quality of that track
.........if i like the track it wud influnce the fututre perception of music from that artist and vice-versa

i agree that big names do have an influence over the music .u have certiaon preconceived notions about what to expect from the artist and hence u are biased           At the end there is a DOOR & waiting for you on the other side of that door is either HEAVEN or HELL

In my case i really don't care about the names, only the music...
i'll five no example a couple of months ago a friend had a cd in his car (agni hotra), when i listen to the rastaliens tracks i when mad, i loved it and i nevered had heard of them, the next day i was searshing for more music...

But overall, i think yes it does make a diference if a big artist makes a track o a new artist, people always are looking for thing they already know.

For me the answer is : YES defenitly
If i ear a track by some old and expirienced artist i should expect more than the normal.
If i ear from some new artists is easier to say : good track!
understand me people?

I'm very influenced by the name of the artists too.

For the last 2 years I completely put out of my menu well-know non-creative artists and fully comercial record labels like Spun, TIP and others of that poor caliber.

It's not much of a prejudice, it's more like being thought by experience where to go and were not to.

Meanwhile newcomers are always welcomed to have a go on my sound system.

hey luje im also very influenced by artist - but keep listening to "non-commercial" labels, some of these labels will be the future...and its nice to follow just how labels progress, style & production wise.

i try to stay clear of anything that has these words involved in the titles:

"death, murder, kill, hell, sadism, terror, evil, violence, killer, killah"

by the way.... these are all words that i found on cd's and tracks lately... unfortunately i did not make up any of them...
