No it doesnt. Ironically enough i started finding other genres of music very enjoyable. it broadened my horizons. If by narrow minded you mean you can listen to the same beat over and over and again and not get tired and people's perception of you begins to change , not for the good, then its hard to disagree           missing plug-in

So it's exactly the same story with different music

im not narrow minded i think psy trance or w/e you wnat to call it is the best music for me. nothing else does it, but i must admit progressive is the true psychadelic it really tells a story. i come from a musical backround from listening to bossanova to pink floyd to punk to rock to indie rock to anyother sub genre, but trance and EDM really takes me away because its so repetative and i think thats the diffrence. cause sometimes i prefer to listen to some chill breaks over psy and the other wat around i tink its all basicaly tribal music. tribal music is the phuture

It's just a phase of life, finding the balance and yea is not that easy. But it differents also by each person some people are more attachables and others less. And for sure too much of anything is just not good for this balance.           to use your head you have to go out of your mind

It does happen to some people. It's called falling in love with the music. It happened to me with punk rock in the early 80s and then with psytrance in the early 00's.

Like someone here said, this tends to happen when the music also comes with a lifestyle and culture behind it. There is a statement behind the music and culture that you feel a part of. But mostly, the music captures who you are at that moment in your life. You have fallen in love with the music. So why not immerse yourself in it? Why not listen to it exclusively for that time? When the time comes that you start appreciating other music (because one day you will), you'll feel that much more appreciation. That's when you realize you are a lover of not just one type of music, but a lover of music itself, and the more types of music you begin to love the more open you feel.

very nice, calling people fag's. Your parents must really be proud of you, or did you come from the same barn they were raised?

I think it's a very nice topic. It is something that has happened to many people. Obviously Psytrance doesn't make you more narrowminded, but this is definitely the attitude that many have taken as a result of the pride they have for psytrance. Sort of the attitude "of my music is more special than yours because of the uniqueness of psytrance" or something like that.

It's just misguided pride that's all.

It sort of snowballs, first it becomes the music, then the style of clothes, then whether they want to eat meat or not, or save the earth and the rest of the hippy movement that comes with it. I suppose it's about trying to be a part of something different, and also being part of a scene where you can fit in, no matter who you are and how you look (supposedly).

As SureSMokeAlot said, too much of anything usually isn't a good thing.

for me, some crazy old classics are still the best music ever made. but that doesn't keep me away from other music and "lifestyles". i'm very open to other music styles, opinions and ideologies, but no other music gives me the same feeling as some shakta, prana or hallucingen does. i'd even say the love for the music, listening and producing, is the only thing that keeps me connected to the circus. i've abandoned pretty much everything else that revolves around it, the fashion, the art, the "hell yeah i'm a goa-freak" to some degree - nowadays, contrary to a few years back, i see it just as another genre of music...which happens to be the one to touch me the most.

no, to me it doesnt!!
Like someone above said, i think it "expanded" my taste for music, because being psytrance a "fusion" of different elements, it made me more curious about all kinds of music...although i have allways had a particular taste for "alternative" music, since my early years....

but you do have a point, i have seen that phenomena happening, people who actually believe psytrance is the ultimate music and everything else is too soft or mainstream....i can only feel sad for them....

p.s.: Did you mean maybe "drugs make you narrow minded"?

I like psytrance and listen to many different psytrance related styles. But it is just a music genre that I like and enjoy listening and researching about. To stay updated (which I enjoy) I listen to a lot of psytrance, usually stuff recommended by reliable persons or new stuff from labels and artists I like. This leaves me not much time to listen to non-psytrance related music.

I'm happy this way, today listened to the J Viewz album.

maybe maybe not depends on the person, not the music...

I like extreme music and psytrance is one for these styles... I still enjoy my metal, drill n bass and industrial... I just find pop music boring.

And Goa/Psy trance isn;t th eonly style to come from India and that region... Behemoth, extreme metal band, is heavily influenced by those countries...           --- Love In Light, Dance In Darkness ---

It maybe made me kind of hesitant of ttrying out new styles of music but that's because none of them give me the same feeling as listening to psy. As far as making me narrow minded I dont think so. If nothing else it helped me pay attention to different forms of art that are related to it.
