It for the artist, i Think the name of the act is your alter ego...

Deeper than i thought...
Nice.

the name of the artist doesn't matter to me much but I think the artists should choose a name that fits their music style...that's why the best artist name I ever heard is Nuclear Ramjet!....great name           DJ Dovla | Interchill Records, Flow Records

Well, i just can't imagine, how a name can reflect the music... especially of the group! OK, i understand about tracks, sometimes names can reflect music, and still not all...

When I choose CDs in a shop or somewhere, name matters and design too, actually design more than name i guess.

Interesting posts BrainStorm.

What your asking here might be considered like a psychological trick to a customer. I think the name is very important in order to get one's attention. But i'm not saying a good name is the same as good music.
This is a bit about marketing and stuff like that...           You realise everything you learn is in fact just learned, not necessarily true...

Like your pewrsonal name a band/artist name is the identity people relate to.

Just imagine that Hallucinogen was named "John Adams" (yeah I know bad example..lol)... It's a mixture of identity and what people are used to..so yes I do think that a band name matter when it come to promotion your music and make people aware of your existance.

Just keep the names simple, and some how related to yourself, then it should be fine!

I was weird, and had a beard..
But now I'm sane and shaved... guess I'll have to come up with something new then...
