i wanna apologise about those i said about Dr.Spook and Geomagnetic recs...i think i was a little bit harsh about him...even some of those we read in here are true ,it's not my job to Judge if i haven't corporate with him...But i think are much much worst things than these from label more famous...but nobody speaks because all try to release to them or have already released and thank God about it.So let's all be cool a little bit,ok?

Greetings dear folks out there...
I see this thread is still getting a regular flogging =)
I figured I would reach out again and give a little update.
Mandala Records raised the question of where does the money come from for new CDs...
Well... 1st off I have had a Production and Distribution agreement with my factory folks since the label started (not an uncommon thing).
This means they pay for all upfront costs of manufacturing and shipping (not tracks, art or mastering or promo etc). They give a set time that the fees are covered and they take the money owed out of money earned until it reaches profit. Then the rest is sent after their % is taken off for their work. Arabesque, Beatspace, Psyshop all have similar deals...
So... Thats how the CD biz works with no money up front...
For albums I split the proceeds 50/50 after all agreed upon costs are covered.
For compilations I did offer a flat fee to be paid at least 90 days after release. The contracts nearly always stated that it might take longer depending on how sales go. When we started sales were better across the board... now they are quite low for even the big labels. Never FEAR! Most artists realize the money is not in releaes anyway but in touring. Promotion is king. Our real enemy is obscurity. So now I am strictly trading CDs/DVDs and Videos and cover art etc for tracks. Yes the videos will take a while to come but they are all eventually getting made...
So on to payments...
Instead of tossing in the towel and not paying anyone... we are sticking it out and making lots of steady headway! Sure we owe a ton of money. Are we going to pay or trade to make good! Heck yea! Have we been doing this all along? Heck yea!
What is also interesting is how we also back alot of unknown new and or obscure but very talented artists and help them get out with singles and albums...
every month every last penny that can be spared past rent, food and utilities goes to pay past owed dues...
while still making steady and regular progress.
I hear by reafirm my pledge to make good for all past debts from Geomagnetic and come to a WIN WIN solution that helps everyone involved achieve all of our positive minded goals.

ps sorry it has taken awhile guys but you know how things go! Please email me if there are any urgent needs and/or issues. I am fervently keeping up on email. We REALLY REALLY Want to make good with everyone out there... We are HERE TO STAY and its more fun to play nice and help each other than it is to throw stones and be angry. Holding a grudge hurts the person holding it most. |

and any other complainers...
lets see... in the past 3 months alone I have paid out over $2500 to artists for their work. Some of the money has been owed since 2005 and 2006... shame on me for paying these people. Shame... go get a burger job... yea... well if thats your best idea then thats why you are complaining at me on a forum for some thing that has nothing to do with you =)... but what the truth is ... is that I work round the clock on psytrance and related projects from events to promotion to distribution to graphics and cover art to visual dvds to making tracks to touring. Yea its not easy to make money doing it but I do and still we make steady progress paying who I owe and releasing a ton of new music.
Killer new music... Amazing and Wild new music!!!

so while some folks complain... we here at GeoMagnetic continue to DELIVER the GOODS... day after day and year after year. As I said before... if ANYONE I owe is in dire need contact me. I am steadily making payments and trades to compensate those who are still owed... (not many now actually! only a few grand left to pay!! woo hoo!) now if sales would pick up it would be easier to actually pay artists from profits instead of from my own pocket and gigs I do. So far GeoMagnetic has been a serious labor of love costing almost 10x more than has come in... so why do I do it? Some day... psytrance will be huge... its growing by leaps and bounds. I am proud to be on the ground floor of a glorious revolution in music. This music literally tranceformed my life. No joke. In 1996 I found Goa in the desert at Burning man. Since then my life has totally been altered by the encounter.
Again. I live and breath this music. I am not going to close the doors any time soon. We at GeoMagnetic are only growing and learning so it would be best to get used to us being here. (since 2001!!!)
We are helping a ton of artists to realize their dreams. GeoMagnetic has helped launched a really talented bunch of artists into their careers. We are dedicated to finding and the best new talent as well as the coolest veteran producers and together we work as a worldwide team to expand the genre, the label, our artist roster/team and have a blast across the planet spreading joy and fun where ever we go.
Yep we owe some money still. Yep we are paying it off. Yep it has taken awhile... and it might take awhile longer.
It will take ALOT longer if there are a bunch of haters out there who keep calling me and the label NAMES and making mean comments. All it does is slow down the constant and steady progress... like a leech on a strong beast of burden =)
so I humbly and sincerly ask ALL WHO READ THIS...
to try to put the past aside. Give us some love and support. We are the most active and visible label and crew in the whole USA. We are here to stay and love the work and our community. We are relentless helpers and facilitators whos biggest mistake is that we dont know when to say no and keep helping folks and releaseing more great stuff!!! =)
so... here is a big happy hug to all who have been loyal the whole time...
here is another big hug to all who are willing to give us (and ME) a chance to keep making good with out constant name calling...
and last but not least...

I am only one guy here and I do way more than a normal dude does so there are bound to be some slip ups... but in general we have a good track record for keeping things on the level...

GEOMAGNETIC RECS ROCKS !
dr.spook/mindstorm is a killer artist and a much better person than wat all i read here,so people think bfre u throw a stone at smeone u might just get that back on ure nose smeday.....oops ! wht goes around comes around.....stay safe and happy and keep ure ears and eyes open for all the geomagnetic releases and partys lined up in the future,i am sure u all wud luv to jam with us and we are quite sure to make u all dance like never bfre stay tuned !

To all haters out there, why would you like to see such a good label as Geomagnetic or Nathan get hurt and wishing all those bad things?
It is absoluteley negative and it does not bring any possitive fruits to the scene.
remember that the label has to make money in order to continue releasing, and everybody knows that unfortunatley the pirate downloads do not support anything possitive, now if you want to complain about money....talk to the free downloaders.....you know who you are.
