LMFAO! Just had to drop a snide comment.
I knew a kid in high school who tatooed Hail Satin! on his arm. It took us a very long time to convince him that he now worships shiny black fabric!
is funny now that Gaahl ov Gorgoroth fame has come out of the closet and has designed a line of Norwegian fashion for woman, when many did and still do believe he is one the most satanic men alive.
Devil worship and paganism are as relevant to this scene as any other form of spirituality for that reason.
It is a form of spirituality.
You can choose to accept it or not, you can choose to laugh at it or not, but I think the question of whether it belongs is irrelevant and subject to the person spiritual and moral views of each individual and that is why this topic has dragged don uselessly to this point.
If you want satanism out of this scene, then I vote for Hinduism and Christianity and to go as well because I also find that these religions have often been used by mankind for much more evil causes than Satnism.
I have never heard of the "Satanic Crusade" that did the things that the Christian crusade did.
Nor has a satanist launched a war against countries, cultures and committed to near acts of genocide in the name of their "god".
Take a hard look and you'll see that all those acts were committed by the people who supposedly believe and support the "light" and not the "dark".
I think satanism is very relevant to this scene, very much so like magic in it's many forms and paganism as well.
All of my experience at event have been of a darker experience, more paganistic and deeper in ritual.
Just because something is of a dark nature does not make it evil or wrong, the exploration of our darker side offers just as much awareness of ourselves and enlightenment as the exploration of our lighter side.

if you notice it is a symbol used by athletes from the University of Texas, and has little to do with satanism.
Actually, the symbol has very little to do with satanism as it means many things in various cultures.
The only people left who use it for satanism are really nerdy metal head I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

I think it is competition who gets darker and more evilish sounds and names.
If u hear the name 'South of hell' you expect a 'dark killer' track. So if u produce such a track u need a name that fits and maybe best shows 'this track is a dark killer track'. U can't name it 'sunshine morning walk'
Kasol did a version of Slayer's 'Black Magic' and called it 'White Magic'.
Of course the track doesn't sound as evil.

So is 'higher states of consciousness' equal to 'lower states of consciousness'?
Do I need to revere a murdering child molester as much as someone living a life of piousness and charity?
Does exploring evil lead us to enlightenment?
Really?
Do I need to watch a beheading on youtube to reach a higher consciousness?
Or better yet, do I need to beat the shit out of someone at a party to understand my 'dark side' better, and that's not wrong or evil?
WTF. I don't get this fascination with 'dark'. Seems ignorant to me. and immature.
To me it's not cool or freeing, it's constricting and suffocating.
I prefer to be free and listen to music that has no bounds and masks, evil or happy.
I'll create my own journey, and explore what I am moved to explore, thank you very much.

"prefer to be free"
then right on. do what you prefer to do .-)
"do I need to beat the shit out of someone at a party to understand my 'dark side' better"
well, in some sense you might need to see the shit of someone in order to understand your own dark side better, because it is all a mirror and you need the mirror to proceed with the enlightenment.

Well said!
And ultimately IMO you do want to reach a higher ground, a higher vibration of positivity and not just remain in the typical "lame teenager wannabe evil" pose.
On another note I respect those who like death metal and are bringing those vibes to the psy trance, but I have to say that FOR ME thats like another scene alltogether. Its a completely different vibe and it has nothing to do with what got me into psychedelic trance in the first place. Like I might as well go listen to country music, or hiphop.. yeah there might be few cool tracks but generally it doesn't really tickle my psychedelic ears, its just not what I am interested in. And I can almost say the same thing for full on.
You know if you are going to give me dark it has to be to to push me into the light with some higher counsciousness insight. So it would not be dark to begin with. There has to be positivity within, and then the dark is not really dark even if it plays with dark atmospheres and sounds.
Yeah its good to face your demons but because you want to get past them, so you can get beyond them and into a higher ground free from prejudicism where you are more intouch with the truth and a genuine positive vibe that is not fake anymore.
