i don't spin mp3's ripped from cd's, because i earn money spinning music (not a lot), and i think it's discusting to earn money with illegaly copied property.

That doesn't mean that i hate mp3, it's even positive for the artists in most cases, cuz u get known faster and more people get a chance to hear ur music, but to earn money with illegal downloads?! I'm serious when i say i'm discusted with people like that, it's cheer egotism, thinking u have that right... Cinema's don't play divX's either!! At home, no prob, in a professional environment, fuck off. ofcourse, when ur a student i can understand... But that's the ONLY exception i'm willing to make on that principle.

Err. Let's not turn this into "Mp3: Good or Evil" discussion shall we?
This is equipment section not Phillosophy one.
Are we clear?           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

@Fregle

Ripping cds means u actually own the cd.And u make a digital copy wich is legal.
Besides the fact I would not really want to have any scratch on my cds collection therefore......

Anyhow, yes maybe we are going off-topic.

My opinion is that Traktor can be fun.And i would go for it as beginner and as veteran dj.

Yeah Traktor is better then all hardware mixing stuff. Coz u got a pc running and so much more possiblitlies. But there are lot more dj-progs and i think some are even better then Traktor. For example MixMeister Pro6 bases on another principe but is killer for mixing and u can use vsts and samples. Or Virtual DJ analyses ur tracks on the decks and show visualy the breaks of the whole track so u can mix without knowing the track at all perfectly.            Signature

Sure...it it's the same no matter if people play from CD, DAT or a computer.

I know quite few DJ's, mostly ones who been in the goa scene for a long time when it always was about copying casette tape and then DAT.
Of course it was mostly about free parties then as well, so morally it was a bit different issue.

None of the DJ's I know at least buy CD's, they are copying. Not over the internet, but by meeting up in person.

Sorry the off topic, but IMO being automatically percived as playing downloaded material because you play from a computer is one of the main drawbacks that make many DJ's hesitant to use traktor.

The only reason for that I can see is that many people must be unaware of that CD burners exist or just make narrow minded presumtions.

So the decistion is not only about technical or objective facts as I see it.
In the interest of doing everything to keep the scene confirmed to a problematic and outdated business model, Traktor is a problem to use in serious circumstances.

If you don't have only bought tracks you don't want to arise suspicion, and if you have it's boring to get accused of playing downloaded mp3.
I play only my own and some friends material normally, all as wav from the HD, and I still get to hear that people thought it's crap that I play mp3 on the party.

So if you are a stubborn hardhead like me Traktor is ok, otherwise just go with the flow and burn your CDR of the mp3's or copy your originals to CDR (as they all say they do )

Then that all DJ's have to play from the same released material is not something I would think is positive for the scene.
Niether that only DJ's with the right connections should have access to the unreleased music.
That is only good to maintain an elitisic feeling in my view.
But thats another story and is off-topic here.

I think Traktor the BEST!
I'am use traktor for 2 years and i'am happy

I don't like built-in mixer becouse of great difference between hardware and traktor mixer. I always use external mixer and midi controller.

What you can do with traktor you can't do with CDJ. Traktor give you FREEDOM

And what i realy wanna from traktor - 2 more deck

When you get your head around how to mix with it it's awesome.
