indeed. and lose the mp3's, unless they're really high quality. At soundlevels that high u can hear the difference between a wav and an mp3

i dont know, ive messed around with traktor since version 1(im no dj). Im a bit dissapointed that traktor hasnt caught on more. Im sure the mp3 thing doesnt help it.
i dont care how good your mixing skills are, there is no way you can set loops on the fly like you can with traktor. Not many cdjs have filters.
once you have mastered the technical aspects of useing traktor then let your imagination run wild and try to do things that people cant do with real decks.
hopefully version 3 has 3 or 4 decks, that would rock.

I have been using Traktor for a few years now and I find it awesome to have the loop facilities and seeing the waveform of the track.

But Abelton Live is a lot more capable.
You can play more than two tracks at the same time and fill it up with loops and FX to thow in syncronised to the beat.
The mixing is a bit less hands on and take a bit of practice to get used to, but if you are more in to flexibility than ease if use it's a great option.

And it doesn't even read mp3, so if people start acussing you of anything you can tell them to STFU

Because sadly I think it's like slyman604 say.
The reson such a great tool like traktor is used so little is that people with narrow mind think that if it comes from a computer it's mp3, and mp3 is evil.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

From grabbed purches CD's of course

Seriously though I think the problem for many is that mp3 is not elite enough.
Where does the tracks on Goa Gill's DAT tapes come from?
It seems like many adversed to mp3 is mainly concerned with that any kid can put together a fresh set.
Most great collectors and DJ's I know is copying CD's and hate mp3's.
The story about how unfair it is to the artists seems many times to be more about keeping the elitistic auora rather than protecting the economical interests.
The sound quality arguemnt is ust bullskit, and it's obvious that the people who say it's a difference between a good mp3 and a wav have never made a blind test.

And I never heard a DJ I really enjoy that play much released music.
The best ones I know copy a lot.

I do get most my music from the artists and is not so keen on much released music.
So for me mp3 is not so interesting.
But I think it's great if people have good access to music.
Because some of the "kids" might be able to make a killer set if they have a chance without a lot of connecdtions and years in the scene.

When i dj around i have been using traktor (and Live) for a while.I do get most of the music i play from artists too,but then i rip the tunes i think i am going to play in mp3 320Kps.
I personally dont care what people think seeing me using a laptop instead of TT or cdj ,and mostly (as Spindrift stated) dont care about ppl saying taht mp3 sounds bad (yeah sure if encoded at 128 i might agree),especially since clubs are not sound designed in a proper way (most of them),sound engineers at clubs sometimes aint a clue of how to set the sound, and genrally people dont hang out at parties with spectrum analyzers ;-)

Getting back to us mp3 is a comodity.I never decide my set in advance,i like to go to a gig with 200-300 tunes coz i never know what i am going to play, and personally i dont like put my hands on cdj unless i have no choice (i learnt how to dj on decks.....).

Peace,
