well not that i am a pro or something but i think that the md'j+ mp3 option will slowly take over..
the dj can come with a small bag, less space..
and yet the mixing is the same as the cdj.. only today the mdj's are huge and expensive.. just wait. :-)

Frankly i don't belive that anything will be able realy to change vinyl, at least for the places and people that consider themselves pro's. since it's a matter of posse and status (to use and have vinyl releases) but the future will be in laptops with mixing software and 2 soundcards (one for output the other for monitoring) but that will be no chochma cause all you have to do is set order of trax and cue in/out points the computer does all the rest, people still need a show and a TT Dj provides a show with all the records.

Couldn't agry more with Dr. borris, the new breed of dj's using two sony's MD's will never pick up into the pro scene, the ultimate dj will always be the one with his hands DIRECTLY on the sounds he is making, naming a TURNTABLE. the future i think lies in DJ producers using as many samplers fx units they can put their hands and minds on.

the next thing.... mixing live mp3 from the net?!

but... for sure... nothing can b better than the vinyls, i also use turntables and its just the coolest thing around for now, and it can realy show your skills as a dj.

and i just LOVE the little MD... nothing wrong with the little things :) i was in couple of parties where the "big" djs used 12" and it just sucked... and than came the little MD dj and just saved the party.

its all about the dj... not the gear

I believe that pioneer will improve the cdj skills until u have a vinyl rolling on its top that actually is just controling your cd or something else... and you´ll put ur hands on it as you were putting on a real vinyl.... and u could make scratches on stuff... that´s what I think...

I have never used it, but a friend of mine tried the Pioneer CDJ-1000 and he said it was very very near a Vinyl feel, you can really scratch, and you have a display that shows you the music graph just like when you look at a track in a vinyl , so you can see the breaks and stuff. He told it's really really cool. For more info try
www.pioneerdj.com
btw, those things are expensive....

cdj's untill new "cd".
it just easy to get music on it, u can work on some trak/rmx at home and bring it to play same night (u cant do it with vynil). cheap, quality (as its possible and not mp3) sound and good format. after all i think dj's have to work at home not only on mix techniks as on trax they play. change some loops, create new levels of sound and some effect work. also bpm things and short version idea.

so, no matter what, mainly it have to be cheap, recordable and small as it possible.

Pioneers are great, easy to use, very smooth operation, very accurate - creamy!
but I still prefere old CDJ gear like Dennon or Gemini - its much harder to operate, less accurate and demands real knowledge to operate (but you can get the same results, if you know the craft).

anyway, ppl will use whatever they like (and whatever is easier and faster to get good results...), as long as the outcome is satisfying, who cares? oldtimers (and me among them) will probably shun the new techniques by saying that it is not real work (partly true, since with this MP3 thing the computer does most of the beatmatching work), but the ppl on the dancefloor are the ones that matter, not the DJ's ego.

Although the cdj-1000 r cool, nothing will ever replace the vinyls...
at least not in the near future... nothing can replace the touch and the sound of a vinyl....

Atleast that's my opinion..

Talko. Why do I have to fight with fucking inacurate machines (Gemini and Co) instead f concentration on music. it's either pioneer or no go for me, I need conditions to be at my best. I remember sets when I had to fight with those darn small sliders on the gemini and I got so pissed off that the people that suffered were the croud, I just went and played my most neurotic music cause i got annoyed from the technicals. sorry but machines should help me not fight me!
