Check out for Beat Bizarre, that's minimal.
Beat Bizarre were never and are still not minimal at all. Progressive yes, "danceable" yes, deep dark atmospheric yes, but not minimal.

As for the tags and labels, i also don't like them/use them but i believe we can all see why one must not bring Astral Projection, Wizzy Noise and Paste to play at the same party.. ;)

I also think that each group has its own style.Lets take for example Infected Mushroom, they have a unique style.Psysex have their own style also,BLT,Astral and so on.Each one has its style simply because each man on this world has a different brain than the others.I am not against styles of music but i think that first of all we have to define how each style looks like.So what Psy Trance exactly? how does the bass line has to be or the bass or the snare or i dont know what else?If you want to belong to a specific style you have to follow its standards BUT what are these standards????

OK I'm gonna cut all the filosophy and get to some real life bullshit.
It is very hard to talk about music, and even harder to write about it. alot of the terminology was invented by the music Press (Yes I'm also to blame) to ease our writing about music. Mixmag (a leading UK Dance/electronic music magazine) have even put a box that explanes sub genres and says if they invented it. in Trance the first big division for me is between Goa and Psy. goa is more like AP or Simon, Psy is more GMS, SKazi etc... then there is full on and minimal. you also have progressive, but then progressive usually describes when you are trying to mix different generes (like trance and Techno or trance and house) Beat bizzare are not minimal yet they are progressive, and not Goa. but this is very personal. also please remember that Psychedelic is more of a personal state of mind, something psychedelic to me wont be psychedelic to oters. (shahar finds sunsets to be extremly psychedeic, I don't).
So.......

OK, I'm sick and tired of this 'progressive' definition, so I'll try to give you mine:
Progressive, comming from the word Progress, which means to move further. The progressive sound got its name around 3 years ago, and made its first big appearance in the first solipse festival, mainly by the new swedish rising stars such as Anti (3 historical hours set that should be taught at music schools) and Atmos (his first releases of Klen Aber Doctor and The Only Process). The reason it was called Progressive, is because of the big change between how this new style sounded from the older Goa style: while the Goa or Psy trance had more 'traditional' structure with a built 'story', the 'Progressive' trance leaned more on kik+bassline+precussion work to create a groove line - the tracks didnt have a specific 'story' structure of "begining-middle-drop-rise-explosion", but developed slower (and sometimes not at all) and with more patience.

now, today, ppl take this sound and structure that was unique and new, and call it progressive trance - sorry folks, but this is not progressive, since the music hasn't really progressed anywhere. The swedish style (that led the trance scene since the solipse) sounds just like it used to 3 years ago, and creating a track that uses kik+bassline+precussion doesnt make it progressive, since its not progressing anywhere - it stands exactly at the same place.

So stop calling everything that you hear today Progressive. Progressive can be titled only something that actualy goes ahead and does something that haven't been done yet. and there aren't many.
