hella guys i am a 4 year old trancer. before gettin enlightened i used to be a hardcore trash metal music lover (sepultura, death, etc.)
since last 4 years now i am noticing certain differences in both the phases, these maybe very individual but just wanted u guys feedback and want to know frm other ppl who have also turned frm metal music to trance

- heavy metal music is destructive // nd trance is constructive
- metal = satanic // trance = divine
- both make person aggressive but in totally opposite ways
- u feeel like doing something creative like juggling, dancing, etc // trash metal makes u think of breakin things and destroying
- havent seen anybody gettin in fights in trance parties and all have a divine smiles on their faces // rock shows are not complete without fights nd bruises on u nd others
- wait for no moon dark nights // best part is the sunrise and journey from darkness into light
inshort - Satan vs. Divine

i again say tht these views nd notices might be very indivual.... but want ur views nd feelings about it...
peace and live in trance

I would pretty much like to state the opposite.
Heavy metall music can be far more constructive than most trance, specially the monotonic so called 'progressive' crap.
Making your drum-machine go on and on and on is so much easier than learning to play the guitar for example.

And to get out all your aggressions in your music can be very positive, thus it might help you to get them out of your system, instead of putting them on to other people.

So, stop the 'hindhu-god-swearing-crap' and get in to your leather jacket and bang your head!!!

Rock'n'Roll 4 ever!

I've got (probably) everything that Meshuggah ever produced.
(And they coming to play in Örebro soon!=)

Besides from that, I have some Morbid Angel, and some other trash-metall stuff..

Never understood metal. I mean, the "thing" behind it. I understand the anger in Sepultura (with Max, definitly), but that's one of the very few metal bands I can listen to. I don't like that devil worship shit at all.
I started listening to metal & hard rock when I was very young (crazy family, hehehe), things like Black Sabath, Iron Maiden (the early work, 'till Piece of Mind), Deep Purple... (I'm 33 years old, btw.) I enjoyed the power of the music but when it came to the message... I was on to something different like Pink Floyd, Bowie, Beatles, Love, Leonard Cohen.
Later on bands like Voivod & Napalm Death were introduced to me, but I was in a gothic mood by then. The thing for me was Joy Division, Bauhaus, Siouxie, Cure, Sisters of Mercy. I like some heavy sound, but the message and the filosophy behind it is has important for me has the sound itself. I like Tool, Rage, Queens of..., and stuff like that.
That leads me to the bands I was listening to, when I got to know Psychedelic Trance. I was in a very deep and introspective mood. It was like going from one end to another. I was listening to wicked, deep, beautifull, pagan, religious music. Current 93 (David Tibet is a genious, and the album Thunder Perfect Mind one of the most beautifull things I've heard), Death in June, Sol Invictus, Strenght Trough Joy, Nature & Organization, Sorrow...
I also don’t like HipHop (again the message) but used to enjoy some stuff like Disposable Heroes…, Beastie Boys, but these new bands, and the message associated with it… The same goes for Numetal, whatever that is. I can’t stand it, but don't get me wrong, I respect it as I respect all forms of music.

The deeper you go the higher you fly!

PS: I do like sometimes to ear guitars in Psytrance as long has it isn't to extense.

Hardcore makes me happy more times than trance does. Trance can actually bum me out while if Im in a shitty mood hardcore will pump me and make me feel better.

hardcore discoruges drug use / trance promotes drug use.

Listen to some earth crisis, snapcase, hatebreed, vision of disorder, another victim. There a lot of posotive stuff there, nad any agressive lyrics are not satanic or kill your mother shit.
That is a HUGE sterotype that i guesss still goes around.           no sig

I always liked a lot of genres, and hardcore was one of my favourite and still is; i´m playing drums since 8 years in a band and still do...

Every genre can make you feel happy if you like it.
that´s the case

The best thing metal has over psytrance, and that psytrance will never have, are lyrics. Some good lyrics. Else than this, we can compare both styles, respecting their individuality.

And at real good melodic/progressive metal concerts (like Dream Theater, Rhapsody, etc...) there are no fights. There are lots of people singing together with the vocalist, and jumping like madness. And much less drugs around (except for the alcohol)...
Respect!

Acidmantra, Ulf explained himself, i think, quite clearly. i think the best example for rock being diversified is megadeth's "Hangar 18". a short song with Long guitar solos, each one is different and challanging.
but than again, it's a matter of personal taste. i prefer my music diverse, interesting and different all the time. others are stuck about in one style. to me that is boring. it's your call, of course. but i think i could not live without more than one musical style.
