MK i am not sure you have a lot of clues concerning my music taste in psytrance (i guess you refer in psy trance after all and not in my general taste in music),except ofcourse if you dont like the fact that i dont like "dark psy" music lol.So if you just refer to my "dark psy" dislike then sorry mate but i cant help it hehe.

So any reviews so far concerning Carnivale and Storm Of The Century?

P.S Nick yes Tornatorre is probably very famous in Italy but he is relatively unknown in the rest of the world that why i consider him as underground.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Nick the original Funny Games is an amazing film by the master Haneke (expect a suggestion of one of his films soon) and i still havent seen the new remake with Naomi Watts and Tim Roth (no cinema and no downloading like i have said in the past) which i guess has to be very good but i am afraid doesnt qualify as an underground movie with this casting and the promotion it got.Its a bright new film after all.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Title : Get Carter

Website : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067128/

Director : Mike Hodges

Year : 1971

Country : UK

Before you start reading this post repeat after me 20 times : THIS IS THE 1971 ORIGINAL FILM.

Now that you know what i am talking about you can continue with this post.

Jack Carter (played by the one and only Michael Caine in a memorable perfomance) is a tough London gangster who returns to his hometown of Newcastle for his brother's funeral who died in what seemed like an accident. While there he begins a little investigation and he soon comes up with evidence showing that his brother was actually murdered. After asking a lot of questions here and there he gets warned by the local mob boss to leave the town and forget about this story, thats where things get brutal, complicated and tottally out of control as Carter is trying to get revenge for his brother's death.

Story sounds nice and simple but this movie is not considered as a crime/gangster classic for its plot.

Michael Caine delivers a mesmerizing perfomance being at the same time brutal and funny although he speaks only when needed in the film.

The atmosphere is amazing surrounded by a british melancholy and the characters and settings are all great and 100% british. This is a cold film but this is what makes it so great and puts its among the greatest british films ever produced and many critics have hailed it as a cult classic with a hardcore fan base (including myself).

The end is also twisted and makes you wonder if revenge is something really worthy and whether one man can trully take revenge against multiple and stronger opponents.

There are many many films that were inspired by Get Carter like The End Of All Violence for example.

Unfortunately though very few (if any) young people know the existence of this classic film and the majority associate the Get Carter name with the idiotic rubbish film with Stallone that was produced in 2000 by Stephen Kay which was a total disgrace for the original.

If you havent seen any of the Get Carter films focus on the original and dont even bother about the remake,if you have seen the remake and you are reluctant on giving the original a chance trust me and forget that stupid Stallone film and spend two hours watching the majestic original.

British Cinema at its best.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Title : Le Couperet

Website : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0422015/

Director : Costa Gavras

Year : 2005

Country : France

Costa Gavras has produced in the past the legendary film Z (if you havent seen it forget about this topic and spend your time trying to find and watch Z) and other great movies (some of which won an Oscar) like Missing,Amen and Music Box.Although his films were always highly controversial and gained very good critics his box office earnings were always low and his films were mostly considered as cult classics rather than commercial successes.

Le Couperet is exactly that,an amazing film with awfull box office earnings that nobody outside France knows (and i really mean that) and sometimes i feel like the only non French person who knows about it and that is probably because i speak French LOL.Seriously you cant get more underground than that.

So lets see the story of Le Couperet.

Due to outsourcing (having a job done outside the company like BMW not producing its own tyres but deciding to buy tyres from Bridgestone for example because its cheaper to buy them than produce them) Bruno our main character and a chemist in a paper company loses his job and remains unemployed for three full years.Although his skills and resume are very impressive he cant find a job and he wonders whats going on.Suddenly he realises (through a great post office trick) that his skills and great resume are not as good as he believed them to be and that the competition in his area is extremely high and the positions very few. While he is desperate his familly also puts extra pressure on him (since the internet and cable tv among other things are not available anymore to the household) so he takes the decision to simply "eliminate" the competition in order to help himself and get a job.

What follows is the best and darkest comedy in years with a lot of crime/thriller elements and a tottally twisted and high tension plot.Bruno tries to complete his plan, the police is after him and his familly has no clue of whats going on and the whole situation is a real mess.

In the end we realise that the bad guys are not always the ones that loose,or maybe thats not the case?Because who is a bad guy anyway? And what makes a bad guy bad after all?.....

Le Couperet is a raw movie with many moral questions and lessons inside it that for me is a cult classic and a real hidden gem of world cinema for which i feel very proud just because i watched it while the rest of the world ignores its existence.

This is my gift to all the people who spend time and read (and hopefully watch) the suggestions i provide through this topic.

Title : Django

Website : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060315/

Director : Sergio Corbucci

Year : 1966

Country : Italy

Banned in many countries all around the world when it got released, banned in UK till 1993,probably the most copied film of all times with more than 50 sequels/copies/movies that just borrowed the name. That is Django,a tribute movie to Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns that evolved into a cult classic of its own.

You know that this film is special from the very first seconds when you see a desperado walking in the desert dragging a coffin with him while the AMAZING soundtrack of Luis Enriquez Bacalov plays in the backround.

The theme song of Django is an absolute classic both in its Italian and English version and stands proudly next to the majestic work of Ennio Morricone for the Sergio Leone dollars trilogy.

Check out these two links to get an idea of what i am talking about,be warned though this stuff is really addictive.

(English Version)

(Italian Version)

Franco Nero portrays Django a soldier of the American Civil War who returns to his small home town somewhere in the Mexican borders,a town that is between a war of Mexical rebels and some racists Renegades wearing red KKK alike hoods.

Django is very mysterious and drags a funeral coffin in his back that noone knows whats inside it.On his way home he witnesses a band of mexican rebels who torture a woman getting killed by the racist renegades and when the renegades try to kill the woman Django kills them and then he heads along with the woman to the center of the town. From this point and on he is on his own and he has to protect both himself and the woman.

Thats enough for now,the rest you better see it yourself.

Django is not as good as the famous The Good The Bad And The Ugly,Franco Nero is very convincing in his role but he aint Clint Eastwood (the ultimate desperado ever),the scenery and direction is not as good as in the Sergio Leone films BUT Django still ranks among the best spaghetti western films and has developed a hardcore fanbase around the world therefore it is considered as a great cult classic film with an amazing timeless soundtrack.

Ahead of its time and an enjoyable (and memorable i dare to say) film even today.

Even if you are not into western films you will for sure love the soundtrack, give it a try in any case.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Ok, I'm back with nothing but great words to share about the Movie.

Le Couperet - Costa Gravas

The first time I say "Z", was about 6, 7 years ago.
I thought it was, close to "Missing", the best Costa Gravas picture.

But know I might feel a bit different.

"Le Couperet" is a brilliant movie. I couldn't keep my eyes away from it for one second.
It's intelligent, surprising, very well performed by the caracter Bruno.

I toltally agree that it a really dark humor movie. I laughed my ass of sometimes.
The faces he makes, they way he "organizes" himself!

It's also a bright thing, to see what people are willing to do, to get what they need / desire.

That's perfectly said!!
I thank you so much for the suggestion.

Next one in my watching list: "Get Carter" and "Le Samouraļ".

Take care mate!!

Title : The Kite Runner

Website : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419887/

Director : Marc Forster

Year : 2007

Country : USA

The Kite Runner is a story about childhood sins and mistakes that remain well hidden while we grow up but eventually hunt us down and one day ask us to face our punishment or try to reach salvation by doing the "right" thing.

Two young boys grow up together in Afghanistan just before the Russian invasion, they are so different but so close to each other and they are connected by a big secret that noone knows yet.

Happy times but then the friendship breaks in a dramatic and painful way and each one follows his own road, then the Russian invasion comes and one of them flees to USA.

Years later the kid in USA is now married and has become a famous writer after a difficult life with his father but then a strange phone call obliges him to return to his country to correct the mistakes of the past and make peace with himself.

The trip is full of suprises, dangers and secrets, noone said that the way to salvation was easy.

In the beggining i was very cautious of watching an american film dealing with Afghanistan, yes some propaganda scenes are present but this is a majestic story greatly directed and The Kite Runner is easily one of the best films from last year.

Highly suggested and thumbs up for the soundtrack and the opening credits artwork.

Finally an american film that can be considered a world cinema classic.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!
