Dear X Rust like i said this is the best comedy I HAVE SEEN for many many years,and i was very specific on that because different people like different things,for example while i consider the Scary Movie series a bunch of shit it seems that a lot of people have big fun with this kind of comedies.Just a matter of taste i guess.
Concerning Diesel if you consider that in 2006 the winner of the male oscar went to Philip Seymour Hoffman for his indeed amazing perfomance in Capote yes it is true that it would be very difficult for him to compete BUT if you take into consideration that the opponents of Hoffman were Heath Ledger and Terence Howard then sorry but i believe that Diesel was superior to them both and he could at least be a nominee even as a big outsider.Anyway again personal taste.
About this being one of the best mafia movies ever sorry but here i stand still for reasons i wouldnt like to speak about in public.This is a real court case though just to let you know.For sure its not as good as Goodfellas,The Godfather and Casino but it is very good indeed.For me its even better and most enjoyable than Once Upon A Time In America and i know that many people will disaggree with me on this issue but this is just my humble opinion after all
P.S Comedy movies are supposed to be relatively shallow because they are comedies after all,if they were too deep then i guess they wouldnt be comedies but dramas or something.

yea no worries my friend detox,especially in movies it is clearly a matter of taste,and overall a matter that is not worth"debate"(with the good meaning)
but,i still believe that your review was "too much",and i was surprized ,because i know you have a good taste.i agree it was a good movie,my main problem is diesel himself, i consider him something like the american "souglako" if you know what i mean.henche he didnt convinced me at all .
ps i agree with you about the shallow part ,and the scary movie part.actually,it is hard to find good comedies lately!

X Rust i think Vin Diesel is a joke actor in general (and thats why in my original post i said that this movie was in the corner of my video club for a year before someone "forced" me to rent it) but still in this film i think that he exceeded himself and maybe even more than that.Trust me i might dislike him more than you do but in his role as a naive but still loyal mobster he was a miracle man indeed.
Anyway matter of taste indeed.
P.S Good comedies and lately is very very rare indeed,watch Let It Ride and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.Especially the second is a real masterpiece featuring Steve Martin and Michael Caine,i guess thats enough hehe.

I dont know if this movie would fit in this section, but since it wasnt marketted much and none of my friends have seen it, IŽd call it an underground dark humor movie.
Its got Ben Kingsley as a Ruthless, no remorse mafia Boss - Don Logan who tries to get togther the old gang for a one last robbery.
His acting is just outstanding specially after you have seen him in Gandhi, you just cant beilive the charecter he plays in this movie.
Its a very funny movie, the story is a little wierd, everyones got a really thick english accent and its a very short movie.

some words about it:
The movie is essentially about three friends with seemingly no particular direction in life other than petty political activism now and then. Calling themselves "the Edukators", they break into the homes of the fabulously wealthy only to make some absurd adjustments to the arrangement of their furniture and leave a simple note behind: "You have too much money."
With this basic plot, The Edukators delves into that ill-defined human notion of morality, eventually blurring the line between the ethics of social politics and the ethics of personal relationships.

Win the duel with the mysterious rabbit shepherd who says to El Topo that as soon as he arrived to the farm the rabbits begun to die.
And last but not least defeat the long haired gun master who has no longer a gun but challenges El Topo to a fist fight.
I wont reveal to you if El Topo will win all of these duels and how he will win any of them.Sometimes he was skilled enough to win,other times he was just lucky,sometimes he had to trick his opponents and sometimes he just had to give up and burst into tears and frustration since he couldnt win or trick his opponent.
And imagine this is the synopsis of the first half of the movie,the rest wouldnt be possible even for me to describe,how can you describe a movie that includes dwarves,deformed people,slaves,religious cults,monks that play russian rullet,sexual orgies and many many more strange things?
If we are talking about cult movies then this has to be the best and at the same time less known cult movie of all times.
A real masterpiece by a master director like Jodorowsky.
Buy it,rent it,download it no matter what and how but try to find and watch this movie over and over again and come and thank me later.

hoped you have seen "Fando y Liz", "Santa Sangre" and "the holy mountain" there is a box set with all those movies + their soundtracks except by "Santa Sangre" which still till today i havent been able to find the original copy of it!

This is not the typical comedy made by Spaniards that makes you laugh due to the over usage of stupid phrases over and over, this a serious comedy that will get you to laugh your balls off if understood correctly...
the story starts off at a mental center where 2 boys are tested to get off the center, meanwhile a weird language is used and it tells you there are doors and must be opened and if searched well within ourselves we should be able to open all those doors to scape from our mental prison.....
in a parallel story a kid is wishing/imaging to make his own family and bring kids to the world somehow he and the girl he chooses to be the girl of his life by mistake heard an old man at a gas station telling the secret to have many kids inside the car while his wife and sons (about 6) wait for him to filled up the tank
he replies well you know "Trarari trarari" so as he is pulling up his pants off and on.......
follow up on that he decides when grown that is time to marry the girl and bring the kids to this world, unfortunately and after 50 years they never conceived that is required to penetrate the vagina using his penis to actually bring kids to the world and thats how after all that time and many many many unfortunate events happened throughout those years, the best part is when a couple of martian midgets driving a ovni coupe fall from the sky to this planet and stay with them, for 25 years or when they get a video tape that tells them they can adopt a black kid from Africa and they ask saint Nichols to help them get the kid I wish all the spanish speaking people here get the chance to watched it and laugh your balls off or if you dont understand spanish but have a great sense of humor i bet you would still laugh about it even on subtitles!

Kin Beat i dont have the box set (which i think is available from amazon.co.uk) but i got all the movies in original since recently their was a big sale in amazon and i bought all of them.

Thanks for the awesome suggestion Detox. Indeed Vin Diesel is just supperb in his role.
Loved it.
And I was really impressed by Lumet's direction on this one. I'm looking foward to see his new movie "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead"!

I was surprised that I didn't know about this movie.
Cause I loved "Serpico" and really enjoyed "Dog Day Afternoon".
