If the day comes where movies have to make sense, please arrest David Lynch.
I liked it btw. Just like the rest of his stuff. |

I am also Aronofsky fan, but still... Fountain was ok for me, but nothing more than that.
Somehow I feel that every movie he makes is less good (i wont say worse) than the previous.
"Pi" was a masterpiece, "Requiem for a dream" was awesome, but after that... I don't know, it just wasn't the same quality for me.
Will watch "Kontrol", thanks for the recommendation

Ok, it's my all time favourite movie.
A bit complicated when you watch it for the first time (as it spans through three different time eras) but still i don't get why so many people claim there's no meaning in it. For me it was clear from the begining and after all it's not necessary for a movie to "make sense". Sometimes it is up to the viewer to extract the meaning he wants from it and relate to the movie in his different way - that's the beauty of it if you ask me.
Even if i'm not a huge Aronofsky fan, the direction of the movie is flawless and at times it leaves you in awe. Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weiss (best modern day female actress if you ask me) are excellent in the roles and the chemistry between them is just amazing.
Moreover, the OST composed by Clint Mansell, Kronos Quartet and Mogwai is pure magic and blends so naturally with the images - it's a pinch of heaven.
You should definetely give it a go.
Cheers!

Title : Evil
Original Title : Ondksan
Website : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0338309/
Director : Mikael Hafstrom
Year : 2003
Country : Sweden
The films hero Erik Ponti lives with his mother and his sadistic step father who beats him on a regular basis for small matters. One day he is involved in a fierce fight in his school and he is expelled from all the public schools of Sweden.
His mother manages to gather the money and send Erik to a prestigious private school in order for him to continue his education. Erik promises to his mother to behave good and finish his studies with no further problems.
Upon arriving to the new school he is greeted by the president of the students council and he meets his roomate Pierre a shy but very clever boy who becomes Erik's best friend plus he helps him with some school courses wherever Erik has problems with them.
Soon Erik will discover that the older students and the members of the students council treat very badly the younger students and punish them all the time with the permission of the headmaster. Public punishments and humiliations take place on a daily basis and soon enough Erik will become the target of these punishments.
Slowly but steadily the tension builds to very high levels between Erik and the older students and the whole situation gets out of control with many people getting involved.
Will Erik manage to finish school without getting banned for getting involved in a fight or will the students council break his courage?
Ondskan is a great scandinavian film with terrific perfomances and atmosphere throughout the whole movie, the psychological profiles of all the characters are very complicated but extremely interesting at the same time and in each scene we learn something new about the heroes of the story and why they react the way they do.
Evil is the best title to describe this little gem since we will witness evil in all its forms and expressions and we will learn that true evil is not necesserily the one that is easy to distinguish but rather the one that stays well hidden within people and might never come to the surface.
A highly recommended film.
