defenition off live-act

hi felow maniacs,heres the deal:
lately ive been at some partys,watching some live-acts...but if a live-act is all about putting some music in a sequencer and let it play with some saved midi presets,then i dont know what is a live-act anymore.
personaly i give more value to a live set.
let me know what u think.

well to be honest i dont see anything that could tell us that the daily motion video is a true live act..,,,palex is refeering to .. what exactly means to be a live act.???.. in my opinion i would have to share some of my process.: in fact at the beginign : 4 years ago i start doing live with reason; yeah weird uh? but well yeah the sound was a crap...but my friends told me i did it ok with that software.. haha still cant believe it.
I usuallly just mixed like 3 or 2 tarcks at same time fortunatly reason lets u open more than 2 projects at same time on livesound, but well finally i got into the great side of my lovely cubase sx ....then my sound got more pro and .. start to preprare the whole set at this time....so far with some fxs and added melodies on it controled with a my midi contrtolller , also some pedal fxs on ... Automatizations were all live... and still... then i just met this wonderfull prog for live wich i think is the only one that really let u play LIVE LIVE 4 real. ABLETON. just get the separate drums synths fxs and bases from each track i will play live and later just get the whole soup mixed..... indeed probably theres too many ways to do it .. but thats it ;thats how i do it and i think if u do it well thats what really matters no matter wich tool (software u use) or no matters how do u proced to.

it should be PA (performing artist ) and not Live

This is absolutely not true.There are many other applications that give you as much control freedom (if not more) than ABleton (i.e. MAx MSP).
SAid this , I think Live is a great application.
BTW live acts have not to be necessarly on a laptop. |

Live-Act: artist performing a backup of his own created music, sometimes with extra live production or performance.
I think you shouldnt expect moer from an electronic live-act! The music is too complicated to be performed "live".
Of course, it would be more accurate to write "Producers" on the flyers, instead of "Live-acts", but the public like to be screwed  |

i hav seen some artists get their artists like flute player , sarod player , santoor player , tabla master etc.. at my farm house parties ...
the artists just got them in the psicture n trust me guys i hav neva seen a better Live Performing Artists so far ,,,

For me a good live act is really good music and mix coming out of those speakers. i don't care about shows i care about music. Having said this i prefer when it is done professionally like having a loop and making the track out of that loop.

its not live. nobody is making up the music on the spot.
maybe maybe they are jamming on top of their premade music. (playing an instrument or triggering loops or singing or whatever)
in techno many people used to play patterns from drum machines and synthesizers and then turn on and off patterns and change the settings on the sound live to assemble something like new material from some peices... the problem is the range of sounds is limited and there's not too much of an interesting musical journey you can do for it- so its usually best done with minimal percussive based music- perhaps one could jam on top with some instrument or sing or something to make it less loopy and more interesting...
anyway- when it comes to psy trance- the very structure of the music is sequenced out ahead of time- one could not assemble very good psy trance live i think because the essence of good psy is the surprise and the journey- there's just no substitute for spending 40 hours on a track to make a really interesting 6-8 minutes of music.
so when and artist is presenting his or her music (the result of countless hours of work in the studio mind you) it is called a "live pa" or something...
probably it would be better to just say the artist has crafted some music he/she would like to present for our dancing pleasure etc...
anyway- would you rather see a monkey dancing around the stage with a guitar making bad sounds on top of his music, or hear high quality sound prepared with care, time, and craft?
do you really need the artist to wank off for you
or can they please just play their music without all this "live" talk.
ableton live is a good tool for presenting your premade music and perhaps adding some loops on top. you could even assemble techno music in real time from premade loops. good psy trance made live in live? i doubt it. maybe theyve issued a good sample pack with premade loops for hours of trance making fun i dunno. i do find it hilarious that they named it live.
dude of course its live. hes using live. and look- his clip view is loaded up not the arrange window!
how come i only see one audio channel playing then?
