Well i was just reading a review of some after party @ the Kinneret where apparantly the DJs were the only ones that knew they had to come.. and the organizers left without paying anyone..
http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/69898/forum/50

so what do u think people is it time to settle the score?
should we expose all those that exploit the artists and don't hold up to their words in the forum?
is it time for bad promoters black list?
what do u think?

I think it's a wise idea.
This forum is read by many artists who have a lot to say and also by many party organizers that will watch their words from now on (if this thread will go in the right direction) and it could even prevent future fuckups... I also have a few to add but I just don't want to be the first one to go...

I always thought that black lists are a dumb idea.
In 2 weeks you'll have the majority of party promoters throwing shit at each other (under disguise of course) and every frustrated wannabe DJ & artist doing the same on ppl who don't want to book them. Every side will say the other side is lying and we'll be stuck with loads of garbage and nothing positive coming out of it.

in the few times that people tried this in various online communities in the past that was the outcome.

I advise against it.           ---------------------------------------------

ok i got to play in a party this week,
when i got there i understtod that the dj's that allready finished the set have problems getting the payment they should have got.
i asked the promoter for my money before i got on to play, he said i came too early.(as if more ppl going to come after 7am, when i was supposed to play)
as time past and my set time got close i understood that im am not going to get the payment we agreed upon, so i told him i leave and left home and didnt play my set.

i think that producer should have the money BEFORE he invites djs to play.
the situation where a dj does hes job and the producer tells some dodgy stories about he's losses is just not right.
he can ask the dj to take the losses in mind, the dj might give a discount because of the situation but it is not logical that a dj will drive 2 hours , pay gas, play a set and then the producer starts playing games.
i know that im going to ask money first then play.
and reccomand anyone that playes @ unknown producers events.

if anyone needs more info...PM me

i agree with you 100%!
a production should have the money to the dj's ready, with no connection to the profit or lossing money!
when i made my party i lost money but i payed all the djs exactly what they should get, their money was ready long time before the party, its not right to not give money to the djs because your losses, like you said Rani, "he can ask the dj to take the losses in mind", its not fair to do such things...

it happened to me as well, and I am talking big money, two artists from abroad , they were nice and did discount but ofcourse they got paid even if i got a big minus in the bank afterwards haha

anyways, such things happen in all the sides of workers in parties.
I learnt when i do decoration i take half before and half when the decoration is set and people are getting in so the organizer can't get away saying he has no money .

In accounting theres a thing called "Bad Debts" - meaning debts that u r most likely NEVER to get the money u r owed. In trance terms most debts are bad debts. I am sorry to say that most party orgeniser's promises about paying u the money they owe u is usually nothing more then words.

well i have to agree with guy, and also with a 50% deposit - it is definitely a good start...
i think there should be a Black list section.. where artists can add their complaints about a certain promoter (name of organization, and country, name of the people who book etc.) and when there's over 5 complaints it should become public to all, what do u think?..
