Music evolves people... get used to it! Morning trance is still available, so where some people get the idea that 'dark'psytrance is taking over beats me! Don't you like the diversity in styles? To me one of the big plusses for this scene. (I know, I know, I don't go to the parties and there they probably only play dark stuff nowadays)           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. lets see how long this revolution lasts for.........
soon people will get bored of the 'dark' stuff also(as more and more people enter the arena) and then something new will come up and take its place ............
probably its morning again
its all a cycle/wheel which will never stop turning......

turn with it

i think there is already many artists in "dark" area, no revolution, just another "wave"           Without Deviation, Progress Is Not Possible.

I think that the scene has always been like this there are waves of sound and then after time different waves of sound so it's on and on and thank god for that!

I think there is space for everything. Dark trance has its own space in the night.. as for the morning the melodys are very welcome under a burning sun.

I also agree there was this big trend/fashion about dark trance.. Many people trying to be the 'angry mutha fuckas' on the dancefloor... and that goes for artists aswell..

But hey, trends come, trends go.. We'll see what the future brings.

hi there.

i just came back from another city and well after being in a party in a city 7 hrs far from my home i figure out that this dark trance stuff is growing. i dont know if its positive or not but... i dont really like it.

however this is what happened... this party was about 700 ppl (seemed nice at that point) then a dj who focused on play really digging music of artists that i dont want to offence but i couldnt even spell the name and ppl were going crazy, by this i mean screaming, jumping. reminded me some past heavy metal concerts.

so after this small resemblance i want to know if its my imagination or this kind of music is becoming like a fashion, or i dont know how to say it but doesnt really sound... like music i can hear some sounds and effects passing by and stuff, sorry to the ones who dig into this but... its my opinion.

so hows on ur place? is it me or actually ppl like this what i call no sense... effects and stuff.?

Just a few words about this dark phenomenon.. Some people do know my views about it already probably.. But most of these artists and/or releases showing off as "being dark" and using "specific" graphic design as we could have seen during 2005 in example are missing the target.. They don't look or sound "dark" to me but kitsch.. hehe I can imagine the old "hard-rock" trend you know, with the hair short on the top and long in the nape, these tight-fitting trousers and those rising basketball boots.. Haha, I can't really explain it as I can't help imagining this when I see these covers..

And about the music same same.. It just doesn't sound "dark" to me but just messy.. There are some (rare) exceptions of course, but only a few of them can reach a degree of "darkness" as we can hear some in the Elektro/Urban/Indus style, with the difference that this "darkness" I'm talking about is not one supposed to be "scary" a la "Z series horror movies", but a deeper feeling, not especially frightening but still very mental, "present"..

Voilą.. Just my honest opinion..

I don't think there are a lot of real dark artist, there are a lot of more chaotic and hard full-on and lots producer of more psychotic sound, you can like you cannot, the music is there and the people who like it too....

I prefer those "new" producers, because I found them a lot more psychedelic then the melodic, the progressive or the israeli full-on

You don't like? Go to party where there is other kind of sound....buy other type of cd....

Reality is a fact, words are like air....

Yes let's stop calling this trend "dark" because that isn't how they view themselves and neither does everyone else except here.

If you were to play some "darkpsy" to some guy at machinefest or some other real dark heavy industrial gathering they would tell you it is chaotic at best, cheezy probably actually. As kako said, it depends on how you interpret "dark", I interpret it as being oppressive, disconcerting and destablizing. That certainly is not what I feel when listening to cheey z movie screams and thumping 150 bpm basslines.

Personally I can think of 2 artists who can be described as "dark": Ghreg on Earth and early Delta or Spies (ambient project).

For me the darkpsy movement is a bit like the punk rock movement compared to the cheezy rock movement back in the 80s, the punks being darkpsyers and rockers being commercial fullon. Punk like darkpsy, had a more underground feel to it, it was raw and messy but as musically enriching as was rock if not more depending on your taste.

there we go, neuromantik. i agree with your words.
i don't think dark will gonna turn into a trend just because it doesn't meant to be.
and i can count in my hand fingers which artists are REALLY dark (obscure, atmospheric, heavy, intelligent, scary...) today.
most of people don't know how to classify the other "hard-styles" and at the end calls it "dark". some artists try to be dark, but i can't see in the most of their tracks. it doesn't matter if it have 150 or 140 bpm, in my opinion as slow it can be, more dark will be. more atmosphere, more intensity and more mental absorption of the elements.           Obiit - Industrial Ambient

why do we have some many "dark psy" artists ...?
easy.... that's only because it's the easiest and fastest way to make a track
u don't need musical skills to make this kind of music.... no harmonies... most of the time the rythm is so poor that u don't even notice it.... kick HH snare kick HH snare. .... tell me about revolution ....
the only revolution is that every single kid out there is able to turn on the lfo and oscillators so he can manage to make the most killaaarg innovative unbelievable plastic synth line played randomly with the most killaaarg delay and it's becoming kind of a contest to know wich one is gonna be the one that put the more fx plugs on his channel ... who cares about production and dynamic, it's just about making the most tweaked synth in the world(when they don't download their midi files from famous metal band)...

beside that, i recogn there are a few dark psy artists that still manage to work properly on their sound, rythm etc making quite serious stuff... but they are too few compared to the mass of random darkpsy shit coming out these days
