someone already mentioned schlab stuff as well as ka-sol album
i think they have the best melodies on hard dark trance
but for sure there are "lighter" dark trance with melodies.. encephalopaticys has nice tunes

What SO MANY people don't realize, especially the producers, is that there is such a thing as a dark melody or a dark lead..
If you know anything about music theory, or even how listen to how your leads "feel" rather than "sound", you're aware of this..
imo the "dark melody" concept should be used much more frequently in darkpsy, and I think the same old trauma trance fx can be helped out a lot by melodies |

I think you are spot on. It is very easy to make a track with a heavy bassline, put a few noisy fx in, maybe a sample of someone screaming and call it dark music. It may be dark, but to me it sounds childish and has no power. That is my big issue with the Russian psy scene, most music that is played at parties sounds like it has been made in about 5 minutes to a 'dark' formula.
It may be easy to make music that is 'dark', but it is not eaasy to make music that has true power. As a great example of this is The Delta, their use of melodies is really out of this world, I think there are very few acts that are yet to match the power of their music.
