Mubali of dark trance fame said he is working on a "dambient" track for me to check out...LOL

Future Sound of London's earlier albums are brilliant. Some early Orb as well.

A lot of the instrumental music of the 80s on 4AD records is very melancholy and introspective, notably Pieter Nooten and Michael Brook's Sleeps with the Fishes.

New Order's Elegia is a classic. I recently saw this clamation short that uses the song to great effect.

And Baroque in a minor key does it for me, too.

Here's an ambient/chill/psychedelic "mix", I've made after a punk-rock gig, where everyone (me, too) was on Acid in 1998.
It contains some old, but really dark and weird tracks from Can and Monster-Magnet.

Tracklist:

GARY THOMAS - Journey
THE INFINITY PROJECT - Under The Overtones
KARANITANT - Trapped In Baghdad
MONSTER MAGNET - Forbidden Planet
CAN - Aumgn
PORTER RICKS - Phosphoric
STROMLINIE - U-Bahn Fahrt
DRUM CLUB - The Illuminated
THE INFINITY PROJECT - Blue Aura [Weird Meeting]

I wouldn't play all of these tracks today, cause some people would sense them as too scary, me thinks. Sorry 4 bad quality and nonprofessional mixing...

P.S.: I didn't want to open an extra thread 4 this strange mix, I hope it's okay in here...

I've recently been exploring this extremely dark ambientartist called "svartsinn". Very dark, mostly beatless ambient... I bought the records from the canadian label cyclic law records. The strange thing is - it turns out this guy grew up practically next doors to me in my neighbourhood. Actually caught him live a few days ago as well - his first show in Norway for a really long time. If you want to dwell in your own depression or discover your darker sides his stuff is very good

http://www.cycliclaw.com/ <- lot's of other dark stuff as well

I'm looking for some good stuf too, but I still like it to be Psychadelic, but chill and dark.

Any reccomandations?
