OK this might sound a bit weird but since the last time i was on the fullmoon festival im always asking myself why they dont have this on most other festivals/parties that a massive amount of people is dancing in a huge circle with the dj/live act playing in the middle. This creates such a unique tribal atmosphere which, i think, should not be left out of good psytrance-events. in different cultures of past times people were dancing in circles, around fires, around the moon, circles circles and circles and in our time with psychedelic music it fulfills the same purpose. i just really wanna know why i only saw this at the fullmoon festival and on another smaller party and on no other festivals/parties. what speaks against dancing around the dj?

Cos Full Moon is Unique.

You can't have it the same way in all festival.
I got the impression from the diffrent festivals, from the things i've heard that everyone is special in their own way. Diffrent organizers, diffrent ideas.

Imagen if every festival was the same. What's the point of going?           http://crackwhoremodels.dk/dainty_doll.html

the dancefloor at the legendary ypy poty festival in Brazil was in a circle...

The difference from some round set-ups in festivals was that at ypy poty, there was no ´weird sound spots´ where the beat and bass are not matching each other... I dont think its an easy thing to do, but its possible, and I was there to personally witness it...

maybe this is the main difficulty and reason why they dont do it?

I still fail to see anything similar to tribal at the Full Moon Festival. It's all Non Stop Full On over and over again. And believe me Full ON or Full on "followers" does not even come close to anything tribal.

I am all for a circular setup of the soundsystem, but to place the DJ in the center of the dancefloor is imo the worst possible solution. From my experiences with parties where it was like that, I think it is very disturbing for the energy flow. And why should the DJ be the center of energy anyways? And to dance around all that metal of the stage and the cables have certainly nothing to do with a tribal atmosphere.
Create a circle of sound, but place the DJ on the periphery. That's my idea of a good setup.

i think if the dj is in the middle of the circle he can concentrate better, and i found it amazing also, it was pretty cool to go from place to place in the cicle and hear a slightly different sound and people grooving in different way, i agree with avatar14 completely

Where do you get the facts that the DJ can concentrate better if he/she's playing in the middle of a circle... rubbish

I can asure you that a DJ's concentration got nothing to do if he/she's in the middle of a circle or not...

I find this setup yet another way of praising the DJ's as gods. Why should they be the center of worship? I fail to see the idea behind this... IT's not a freaking Rock Show!

Again will someone please explaing to me the connection between Full Moon and tribal!

Well... if the Dj be in the middle then it means that he's got his back to half the people, I think it's impolite,
Though I have a nice sujestion for you:
You can have a big fire in the middle, you'll sure have a triby feeling would you? and the leave the dj in his place: infront of the party,

ANDA: tribe makes the party warm and friendly, I think the idea of the circle means Together. + foolmoon = great vibe party. but you can party in circles without the dj inside

darkiller:

To create a real tribal atmosphere you need more than a fire and a circle with people holding hands.. You need tribal music.. Music going back to the roots... Not 145 bpm killar music... It's got absolutely nothing to do with tribal mate.

Like they do at Voov you mean? I think the circular soundsystem concept is cool, but I've been to quite a few parties where the sound isn't as good as it could have been, beats out of sync etc. If it's done properly I think it's a winner.

About the dj in the middle - It would not help me concentrate, I actually have a lot of stage fright, and would feel better out of sight hehe
However, if the DJs takes of his headphones, and turns down the monitors, he will have one hell of an audio experience / feel more like an integral part of the party.
Alone for that point, Im for the DJ in the middle, not as an ego booster, but as a center og energy, where the music flows from. Like dancing around the fire.
Put him ground level, or perhaps in a pit so no one can see him ! heheheh.

To Heather Feather.
Pr0fane told me, that the sound was better at Full Moon than at VooV - So, in effect, they must have managed to create a better "sound sphere".
Im going to both festivals this summer.

The music doesnt have to be 125bpm tribal house in order for it to be tribal music Its really an individual thing.
Nevertheless, I do have a hard time picturing an Infected Mushrom or Vibe Tribe tribal experience, Im sure its like that for some though:-)
I can however, easily, have a tribal experience myself, listening to Dark Psy, or more edgy full on.

To Rashava
What would the point of going to each festival be if they were all the same ? Do drugs, get laid, drink beer, spend money, listen to music - same as now hehe

*smiles*

I wasen't really thinking about Tribal House but more in the direction of tribal music in general. Like the kind of music that used to be played in the mornings before it turned into a 150bpm hell
The fact is that Full ON as the main music represented on Full Moon have very little to do with Tribal music. That's why i reacted. Simply because people use terms that aren't really correct. Tribal is not the word to use about Full Moon
