I have very mixed feelings about this situation. I feel that as long a psychedelic trance is made generally accessible, then people will find their own way into it. It took me going to several events that played psychedelic trance to fully understand and really enjoy it. I think that as long as it is something that people will make a conscious effort to find and make happen, things will be fine and the music scene will grow at it's own rate.

If the music compromises itself just to gain a stable fan support base, then I see psytrance ballooning for a small period of time and petering out like any other fad. Of course during this time, many fans that were into it for a long time will feel resentful of it's new success and they will move on to something else. However once the honeymoon period is over, those that discovered the music because it was the "next big thing" will be off to the next next big thing. Once the smoke has cleared, those that abandoned it due to its newfound commercial appeal will most like not return to it now.

I would love for as many people as possible to be able to appreciate and enjoy this style of music, but without it becoming a fascade of what it used to be. Let people discover it own their own and they will appreciate it better than having the mainstream media forcing it down their throat.

So let's let it grow naturally and see where it takes us...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

It's not so easy listen psychedelic trances like other music.Psychedelic culture has its special sound,''sound of trance",which means that not everybody understand such music. On the contrary, trancers love this sort of music.
As far as I'm concerned,I think that people will like psychedelica in near future.

imho it depends only partially on us (i call us people who love psytrance) the faith of it.

actually most of it will depend on how much the 'establishment' will invest in psytrance.

you might have such festivals in other countries as well, but i can speak for brazil, where we have:

- skols beats (skols is the top selling beer in brazil)

- nokia trends

- coca cola vibezone

to name a few.

one may say that those 'festivals' play other electronic music but psytrance but wait up and you'll see... soon you'll have:

skazi sponsosed by philips
talamasca sponsored by ford
gms sponsored by whatever huge corporation

or

xxxperience rave by unilever
tribe rave by procter and gamble

and then we'll face our real threat

once i heard the psytrance 'spirit' will be destroyed just like rock and roll, punk, new wave, techno, heavy metal, death metal, rap etc and all other sort of music styles which started underground and became mainstream, not by work of destiny, but because corporations saw in it a opportunity for marketing their products. as soon as the interest in it is depleted, they go after next boom - and that would be psytrance right now

and i'm not speaking about 'old' trance - that one is gone - tiesto played in the olympics... need to say more?
