@Kumquat I'm trying to understand your position but having difficulty.
Monitors are a tool for his music making.
Is it less legitimate than a guitarist to do the same for a new pair of strings, or that dual humbucker he's been wanting?
To me this seems like the same the same thing.

Though I haven't ever heard Satori's music, I just have a feeling he's a genuine guy, passionate for what he does and pretty good at it, Regardless what tools or instruments he uses for making music.

I agree! Its his lame song and dance why he is on his knees asking for money. He is a father claiming poor mouth that he cant purchase monitors due to full-time school and full-time artist. We are all artist, its not a big deal and he can make better choices like go to school part-time and do his art part-time and get a damn job to balance out his life. He is a father, time to grow up and stop being selfish. How the hell is he paying for school and feeding his child? All you need to write music is software, computer and headphones if you that damn good of an artist which apparently he isn't. Monitors are indeed a tool needed to make your music writing more round but it seems like this guy has 101 excuses to not work and is a father. then again, he calls writing music work.

Wow, something has really struck a nerve with you huh?
You question my choices, yet you know nothing of me.
I am not 'crying poor', I am asking people to buy my music, because the choices I have made at this time in my life have stopped me from having the ability to purchase monitors.
I live in Australia where HECS covers my school fees. I get austudy payments of $420 a fortnight and I study full time because if I don't my degree will take nearly 10 years to finish. All my money goes to food, rent and my child. I don't drink, smoke or take drugs, I don't go to parties.

I have worked hard for the last 10 years, I payed my taxes, I worked full time, wrote music for no return and never expected any. Now I am asking people who enjoy my music to buy some of it and I am being transparent as to where the money will go.
Why are you so offended with an artist taking some control of where the sales of his work go?

I could go on with no monitors. I have written through shitty speakers before. It is not the most needed thing in my life, but I feel I have come to a place where I feel comfortable asking people to buy my art.

What the fuck is your problem? You say I am not a good artist. Why so rude? If you don't like the idea don't buy anything, why be a dick about it?           .............................................

Back on track:

I am half way through the campaign and have raised $773 so far! Thanks to everyone who has bought music so far.

I am hoping to get to $1200. If I get to that amount my next album will be released as a free download as a thank you for all the help I received here.
So go and buy yourself some Satori music and help the project continue and grow.

What douche Kumkuat.

If someone needs tools for making his art it's totally fair to ask for money, if the tools for this, crowd funding, didn't exist before, well sorry, the world changes. 10 years ago you could sell records the "normal" way, today the normal way is gone and people must search for ways to make a living out of their work.

It's not up to you to judge his intentions, clearly more than 20 people liked his music, and probably have some empathy towards him.

Congrats on your campaign Satori!           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

It's not even charity, you donate & get something back. Personally I think this is great. As a stay at home Dad mysef, going back to study & also making music in the same country as Rory I fully understand how hard it is.

I also think it's a massive wank to tell a parent who has chosen to give up work to be the primary carer for a baby to go back to work.

Numerous peer reviewed articles show that parent who work & put their babies & children ito full time childcare bestow serious psychology side effects in the long term. I should know, I attribute my own separation anxiety & chronic depression to my parents never being around for me.

Instead a parent who chooses to stay at home to raise a new human being into someone well adjust & a persons who one day will contribute positively to society should be applauded in these times. It's very rare that a parent can stay at home nowadays.

I'd happily donate to Rory except I'm also saving up for studio gear, but he has my full support 100% both as a wonderful Father & musician.

I hope you get enough for some Adam's or Dynaudio's. I know ku deserve them.

Cheers

Mike           Cuntus Maximus.

Professional viewpoint, a douche is to treat infections or cleanse from odorous contents. I take it as a complement and give you props for noticing the process.

If someone needs money, they can get a job as well. 10 years ago they sold cd's not records, well a few records but not many. I rather sell poop from my butt on a canvas which is also "art" if psycore is "art" than sell my music but im not in the scene to profit from it.

This is so humorous! Fundraisers at a new level, its super that people sell their work and people donate money. Congrats on selling yourself to get free speakers, not like you weren't going to write the tracks anyway. Free music is also the bandwagon and you manipulated it well. Don't see it helping the scene in the long run, just boosting the individual but thats what its about, correct? Psycore is not art in the first place, its "8 bit super mario step half bar zipper core" at best and someone elses idea. People who make this music are designers, not artist since designers jobs isn't to invent something new, just copy other peoples ideas of something that already exist and tag their name to it with additions added. I really enjoyed psycore before it lost its originality so I know what im talking about when I say its not art, just add drone sounds to call it psychedelic. Its just odd seeing other self claimed artist who go to school, work a real job, write their music and are parents all at the same time, guess some are a little more lazy than others or want to feel privileged.

Yes. Congrats on your "campaign" Satori!

Hey Satori

Just ignore him, don't give him the satisfaction of any more responses whatsoever.

Stick to giving positive feedback to those who support you & donate.

I spent the day with a bloke who makes psycore the other day & I know how much effort goes into it.

Just focus on the goodness mate

Look how many so far want to give to you!!

Good luck           Cuntus Maximus.

Leave the man alone, he offered something to people, on which they agreed to help him out.

Nothing wrong with that, if anything I see fund raisers as an honest way of artists, making something to expand the tools by which they can make better music.

If you don't want to contribute because you think the music sucks, fair enough.

He is not selling out though, by any means.

The old mentality of the business comes from not telling people where the money is going and making money on unknown and unpredictable margins. Here is a model that allows transparency & business to coexist. It's not perfect but it's definitely in the right direction. Just don't get greedy that's all!
