Concept –Paranormal (3D Vision)

Label: 3D Vision
Format: CD (digipack)
Release Date: 2007-06-08
Catalogue Number: 3DVCD029CD

Samples : http://arabesque.co.uk//index.php?option=com_artistavenue&task=singleCd&id=1230&Itemid=99999999

Concept is Arnaud Levasseur from France … for more infos : http://www.myspace.com/conceptmusicfiles

Since his First album "Experimental (2005)" on Funghirecords I paid attention to this talented artist who fascinated me with his unique deep hypnotic style of dance music and was always a little different form the rest.
Thanks to Shawnodese I was in contact with Arnaud for almost 3 years and followed his evolution from a more or less insider tip to one of the most demanded artists these days. I liked his music so much that I also released two of his tracks so far (“Atomic Zoo” on Shiva Space Technology and “Electro Undulation” on Rudraksh).
Well since the years Arnaud still sticks to his unique style but his production became topnotch.
His album with 3D Vision was one of the best things which could happen and I’m very happy to see where he stands now and there is for sure more to come.
Since this is my first review don’t judge be too hard and be a little patient hehe.

The cover is done really nice
http://www.3dvisionrecords.com/images/cover_concept_paranormal_165.jpg

and also the Mastering by Roy Engel (Painkiller) gives no reason for complaints.

Concept –Paranormal

01. Micro Express 145 bpm
02. Paranormal Phenoma (w&p with Gill & Lior aka. Outer Signal) 146 bpm
03. Cloning Area 146 bpm
04. Lost Satellite 146 bpm
05. Human Thing 147 bpm
06. Shamanik Dreams 148 bpm
07. Sharp Phase 146bpm
08. Fucking Crazy 146 bpm
09. The Dark Edge (w&p with Christof Drouillet aka. Absolum) 146 bpm

1. Micro Express
Nice to start the CD with a Bang… no cheesy intro it gets where it is supposed to be. Starts of with conspiracy sample and then goes on with a deep straight bassline some spooky sounds and nice build ups and breaks and as always a slice of melody … Nothing too new and spectacular but for sure a typical Concept track as I know and like it. All in all not really outstanding but a good track anyway and a plus to start the Cd like this

2. Paranormal Phenoma

Track two is also the title of the album.
One very nice collaboration with the Outer Signal boys from Israel… not much of an intro… Old MC Donald has a farm ?? again it gets straight to the point… very pushing bassline and melody… some swirly spinning sounds in here … suddenly the tempo gets faster … break a second silence … beat comes again with dark sounding sample and of we go… Track reminds me a little of Shifts older work… and again this hypnotic melody and still a slice of groove in the track … one of my favourite tracks on this album.

3. Cloning Area
Again a typical Concept Track maybe a little more groovy but still really deep, hypnotic one … what else to say … well works well on the dancefloors.

4. Lost Satellite
Massive pumping bassline all leading straight forward… appears to be a little hectic and for my taste something is missing here. I dig this one more around Minute 3:56 when it gets more atmospheric. All in all a good track but some climax is missing here.

5. Human Thing
Nice sample at the beginning… definitely more my cup of tea … nice psychedelic melody and some crunchy sounds stomping beat … what else you wish for hehe.

6. Shamanik Dream
Starts with some nice drum ethno style intro … which ends abruptly after some voice is telling me that its just a dream… instead the fastest track on the album evolves to some twisted more night oriented track. Good one makes me hungry for more twisted Concept stuff… Pure psychedelic and not so predictable Track… Outro is ethno style again

7. Sharp Phase
Also a more night style Track… Deep rolling bassline, hypnotic, groovy and straight forward … nice offbeat melody and always pushing. In Minute 2:30 a melody sets in…. makes the feeling more dizzy and always pushing pushing pushing… short break and guess what yeeees pushing again … one of the best Tracks from this album.

8. Decent track but after listening to 7 Tracks already this one doesn’t point out much… good track but not much happening here … still good DJ food and one of the better ones. But fucking crazy sounds a little different for my taste.

9. The Dark Edge
Well best things come in the end… for those who expected a nonsense ambient track in the end … They are proved wrong. Thanks god !!! Christoph (Absolum) and Arnaud created a monster with this track and so far I played this track in almost all my sets this summer… deep twisted 3D vision style music as its best. Too sad the CD ends after this but makes hungry for more!! This collaboration is topnotch and some bird whispered to me there are other collaborations between the two as well. This one rather deserved the title fucking crazy …

All in all a very good album although it’s a little stressy to listen to all the tracks at once… many Tracks sound a little the same and some experimentalism and surprises would have been good.
Nevertheless the CD topped my high expectations and every track is more then playable.
My favorites are 2, 7 and 9. But the others are not bad at all.
Great album and definitely a must have …

Ahh and two thumps up for not putting any half finished ambient track in the end
