What is wrong about commercialism?
Mainstream music sells. It sells because it's good - otherwise it won't sell. So why do you care what is the purpose of the music, money, fame, whatever. What's important is the result in the end, quality music or bad music.
About making the same stuff all over again - recycling the same styles and ideas. What's wrong with that? You can't innovate all the time. Personally, if I hear something good I will want to hear more material in the same style. Of course that I will want to hear new material as well, but recycled can be as good as new.
What's your opinions on this matter? |

My opinions are that what you said is absolutely true. Every word. Money is very important, and there's nothing wrong with selling out your ideology, innovation and imagination for it. Not everyone can hope to make money by doing his own thing, so he might do other people's things for them instead. It's realism.
Or then again, you might say that a whore does that and we don't think it's respectable, and there's no reason it should be different in music, especially when what psychedelia in trance is all about is ideology, innovation and imagination.

well mike...
sometime recycleing is good...
theres albums that i wanne hear the same style...
but theres artist that just recycle too much!!!
for exmple astral projection...
there music is based on one good idea!
the first cd was good the second too but after hearing them i cant hear other albums of them...
they the same!!!!!!!!!!!:) |

money rocks ppl ! we all luv it ! its makes us happy ! all our scene its just for the money :) why ppl make parties first of all MONEY than some fun , why djz/artist playing first of all MONEY than some fun , why Yahel or Erez Aizen makes music or Shiva Chandra or Lish? money money money
and its not only our scene :) also from britny spires(did i spelld the name right?) to cradle of flith , they make it for the money or channle 2 in our israelien TV , why ? = money , i luv money and we all do , whats so bad about it?? actually im thinkin about startin to write progressive trance, i hate proggy!!! , but why? for the money :) boom boom from the capitalist

maybe they keep doing it for the money, but its wasnt the reason for the start.
this music wasnt so popular back then like now.
the artists hardly got any money for the music, they had 2 keep a nother job.
its just a hobby that B-came a income
and about the topic... as long as it is good, i dont care :) |

my opinion is that commercial mainstream music is made for the lowest common ground, so EVERYBODY will understand it, like and BUY it eventually ,
in order to sell, the big companies that profit from the art, take the idea and simplify it until every dimwit will enjoy it, at that time it's already corrupted and loses the whole message and point .
money is nothing, yes we all need it to buy our food and to pay the rent and bills but it doesn't make us happy, the commercialism thought you to think money makes you happy, i have much more to say but since you all like money so much it's like talking to the walls, no offence anyone .
the truely sad thing is that so many people think it's ok to sell out .
great artists died broke and poor, and the art they made got the credit it deserved years after they died .
